Just finished the break-in on my DTA SRS and finally was able to take it to the range and actually shoot some groups.
The break-in was interesting. Five 1 shot cycles and then following the DTA cleaning guide. The first shot took 4 cleaning rounds to get all the copper out. The second shot took 2 cleaning rounds. The next three shots took only one (no copper). The next two 3 shot cycles took one (no copper).
I was really impressed with the way it shoots. I still have a long ways to go to get used to this rifle and my form (thanks to the online sniper training) but am very pleased with my results so far. Five shot groups using factory 338 Lapua 250g Scenar HPBT at 100 yards. I found I needed to remove one of the spacers to get the proper location for the scope and feel of the rifle. Shot off bench.
S&B 5-25 x 56mm PMII mRad P4F on 40 MOA base
GGG bipod
I was going to shoot some reloads but found that at 3.7" they were to long and were hitting the lands. I have a gauge on the way to measure what I need to get to. The factory rounds are 3.602" although the reloading data sheet says 3.681". I just used my micro-RCBS dies to get them to 3.681" measuring at the ogive and they are not on the lands anymore.
On the second grouping I could not believe I put the first few rounds through the same hole....but I still have that 5th shot problem to work on.
