Gunsmithing Duracote thinner

Re: Duracote thinner

...laquer thinner works fine for cleaning your paint gun/cups, but I've found that certain laquer thinners can contaminate your Duracoat. It turns the Duracoat all stringy/spiderwebby, it's a mess, you can't miss it when it happens. I use cheap laquer thinner to rinse the gun and my cups, but then rinse and run a blast of the more expensive Duracoat Reducer through to decontaminate between colors and for clean-up...it's a good habbit to get into and worth the little extra money to make sure the Duracoat sticks and sets up properly..

Re: Duracote thinner

Laquer thinner and reducer are two completely different chemicals. Using laquer thinner will completely degrade your paint. Of course the manufacturer of whatever paint you are using recommend using thier reducers for chemical compatibility, i have used other manufacturers reducers with no negative effects. In short use REDUCER NOT LAQUER THINNER!
