Good evening yall I’m just looking for some input.

I have recently started dabbling in some predator hunting, I’ve deer/squirrel/bird/waterfowl hunted my whole life but decided I needed another avenue to spend way to much time and money on so now I guess I’m going to try my hand at some predator hunting.

I have a foxpro I’ve used mainly for calling crows up until recently, and have had some pretty good experience (cause you know that’s what you get when the hunt isn’t successful haha) so far.

I would like to purchase a tripod to run my call on, to get it up off the ground a little so it’ll throw the sound better, I found a decent looking little carbon tripod for 40$ on Amazon…. Is there any reason that wouldn’t work? When calling crows I typically just throw it on a fence post but that’s not an option on the farm I’ve been chasing coyotes at.

Any input?

I've been hunting coyotes all my life and I've never put a call on a tripod. I understand that it will get the sound out a little better, but at the cost of dragging around another tripod? Meh

Please let us know if you see a real difference once you move to a tripod. I'll carry 4 of them if it actually proves to matter.

I see your point, I am just looking at it from my limited experience using the foxpro, I know it sounds way louder being elevated and a lot more effective when I’m calling crows. Also in a few months the farm im hunting will be planted with tobacco so I feel like it will be beneficial to elevate it over the crop when it starts coming up.

Little update, I went ahead and ordered the el cheapo Amazon special tripod….
Fit and finish are surprising for what it is.
I used it the other night and I will say with the call 50-75 yards away it was noticeably louder to me with the volume cranked up, not sure if it’s in any way necessary but I have the option now I guess lol.
I had two coming in but I felt the wind shift from in my face to straight away from me and I guess they winded me, gonna give it another run whenever the bipolar nc weather decides to cooperate lol

Swirling winds save too many coyotes lives where i live too.
