Hunting & Fishing Early season ground hogs

It seems the warm weather here in the mid atlantic region is bringing out the chucks and giving opportunity to break in the new 7mm WSM. I normally wait for them to propogate but these are the ones in the bean fields and the farmer doesn't want them to have a chance to multiply.
The 162 AMAX does quite an impressive job to say the least. Both of them were only a tad over 360 yds.

It was done in Duracoat, Magpul flat dark earth.

never got one this early in the year 3-20-11, 8.25lb male. used my new savage btvss 17hmr (only shot it 15 times previously) 20gr hornady gamepoint @ 70 yards

oh yeah, we also have the rock chucks too. They're some kind of marmot, I believe.

Yesterday was another good day. This one ate a 75 gr AMAX from the 22-250 Ackley at 317 yd. He was 1 of 5.
I could do this year round.

im going out with my 300winmag and 208 Amax's this weekend. Bone and fur will be raining

Occasionally I'll use my 30-338 Win Mag and 208s on them. You should see what a 208 AMAX will do at 3,000 fps, it isn't pretty.

Jerry, that is about what my 208 Amax is chrono'ed at. Im hoping for complete seperation of the head from body.

Shoot them in the face head on and it will spray crow food everywhere with not much left behind the ribs.

for now they are out of season in illinois (Closed march 31 to June 1) i guess to give them a break while they breed
