The owner of a local cattle operation had been having problems with coyotes already this calving season. I received a call from him asking for some help. At daylight I spotted three yotes, but I could only talk one into playing. My rifle this time was a 16"DPMS shooting 69 sierra's.50yrd shot.

Yes, that is the exit.He was quartering towards me at 50yrds. I have used the 69s for years on coyotes, with very good results. But I think that's the most damage I have seen.

Re: Early Season Yote

A dead yote is a dead yote regardless of the time of year. I don't typically hunt during the summer months but had several ranchers asking for help due to the yotes going after calves.

We actually went out this last weekend and I had a friend shooting my AR with 55g Vmax's and both yotes he shot opened up like that one. I have to believe that the summer fur being lighter plays a big factor in the resulting damage.

Congrats on putting the fur in the dirt and hopefully making points with the rancher.
