Hi, I seek wisdom. I sold something to someone on ebay a few weeks ago. I shipped it parcel post. Now he claims it never arrive and opened an ebay case against me. Well a few days ago ebay ruled (without any information from me, just "i didnt get my stuff" from the buyer) in his favor, and reimbursed him 48 dollars. Now ebay seeks collection for 48 dollars from me. I disputed this rules citing that I shipped according to my stated method and have proof of receipt. I got nothing back. Now my paypal account has a -48 dollar balance and the ebay collection goon squad are sending me threatening emails.

Do recreational sellers have any rights on this website? Do I have any options?

Nope, your screwed. Ebay is 100% biased to the buyers side. I've read accounts where the seller was able to prove delivery was made and Ebay still ruled in favor of the lying buyer.

Yeah, it's pretty common nowadays. I still Ebay a little but it's really like playing with fire if your a seller, basically just don't list anything worth more than you're willing to loose. That being said, I've Ebayed since the company started and have a good bit of feedback and have yet to fuck anyone or be fucked.

Ive got about 200 feedback, all positive. I have treated buyers kinder than I should and settled with little to no profit most of the time. But this is it. Im done, I hate this company and the way they do business. they suck.

Totally agree, It's why all you see nowadays is companies selling and very few private sellers like you and I. Their business model is all screwed up.

It's not the best option but Craigslist is the next best thing, no fees but no nationwide exposure either and you have to go meet some stranger to do the deal but it's not Ebay...

Re: Ebay royally screwing me, can they do this?

also look up their other company called paypal. www.paypalsucks.com so many horror stories, and paypal will try to deduct money out of your bank account to. I'd close the bank account down that it was linked to. Just open up another ebay account and paypal account linked to a different credit card and address. paypal royally sucks ! I try to avoid them like the plague.

If you want to buy items on ebay, you still can without an paypal account. It just asks for a credit card depending on the buyer.

lastly, remember those two companies are anti-gun ! I try to avoid giving them any money as much as I can

Doesn't make any difference.

Re: Ebay royally screwing me, can they do this?

I guess I just do it for piece of mind. It's nice to know that something supposedly arrived.(trusting that the USPS isn't bullshitting) As opposed to a buyer saying that didn't but USPS says otherwise. Fortunatly I haven't had an issue. I have had some newer members here that don't PM after they recieve items, but then I always follow up with a "Did you get it? Everything satisfactory?" Dosen't everybody?

But they can just as easily claim the package was empty and Ebay will find in their favor.

Wow even with proof that they got it. Well I guess 48 bucks is not worth the trip to get 48 bucks out of their ass. I guess I would send that guy a box of shit and call it good.

I would not have paid that cash to paypal screw them.

</div></div>

My thoughts exactly. In addition to that, if I sold something in excess of $1000 on eBay only to be screwed by the buyer, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to drive or hop on a plane to either get my merchandise back, whip someone's ass, or both.

I have a strong distaste for thieves and con artists.

Re: Ebay royally screwing me, can they do this?

This is exactly why I dont use ebay or paypal. They are one in the same. They are anti firearms and will screw you out of money any way they can.

Stay Away from them!

Now you pursue against the buyer stating he received the shipment.

Not sure if you got signature confirmation but anything over $50 I do...

I agree, I think it wont stop them the filing a false claim and Ebay will still find in favor of them but would give them more pause than just delivery confirmation.

Re: Ebay royally screwing me, can they do this?

If you shipped it "Parcel Post" a few weeks ago, he may not yet have recieved the package. Shipping Parcel Post can be VERY slow sometimes.

Re: Ebay royally screwing me, can they do this?

Are you sure this is the whole story?

It takes 14 days after an item is sold before you can open a dispute with ebay. Once the dispute is opened, ebay emails both parties and waits 5 days for a response from each, and then takes action.

Did you respond to the dispute, with your "proof" of a reciept? I have had to dispute 3 things on ebay, twice as a buyer and once as a seller. I felt that I was treated fairly by ebay and did things timely according to their rules.

Ebay has gone down is terms of prices and expectations of buyers and sellers. The "good" deals have moved on to craigslist for sure. But, ebay still has a place.
