Looking for a more streamlined bag that will have enough room for a bug out scenario and 2-3 days of light packing/hunting. Really dont need all the straps and extra pouches but wondered if people had any experiences with these two packs. the team elk looks to be a bit bigger but still has the rifle sleeve.
One thing of concern I have read from others with the eberlestock packs is that when on, the gun sleeve adds a few inches of space between you and your gear that creates a swaying or sloppy feel. seems like there isnt a way to cinch just the rifle sleeve section apart from the whole main compartment.
would love some thoughts on these.

I have a Gunslinger 2 and the compression straps go all the way past the rifle sleeve to the frame of the pack. I haven't done any extensive hiking with mine yet, but it feels pretty secure if you tighten down on those compression straps.

FWIW. I just took a m5 team elk back. First off my rifle would not fit. #2 the are no compression straps. For hunting you need compression straps. A J107 or a J34 would be better than the team elk. I just got the G2 Gunslinger ll. Should be here tomorrow. I'm sure it will carry my rifle better and it has compression straps. Plus has the frame that the team elk has. I packed a older J34 style pack on a shoot and it did great but with the new rifle I needed a bigger rifle scabbard. In the end I think a person just needs to see what works for them.
