looking for a cheeck piece? as i finally got pictures of my mkii downloaded, i thought i'd share a cheekpiece option that's functional and economical. keep in mind i shoot rifles leftie, for "normals" it would be mounted on the bolt side.
it is actually a CAA cheekrest for their 6position collapsible ar stock. just get a picatinny rail, cut to about 2.5", drill holes in the stock, two screws to attach the rail. the cheekpiece is removable, so you can make "benchmarks" on the vertical adjustment frame for different rifles: one cheek piece for all of them. a benchmark can be made also if the cheekpiece interferes with bolt removal, mark it remove it, put it back in, return cheekpiece to benchmar, back to your height setting.
it has forward / backward adjustment (on the rail) and vertical. i like to pitch the rail a little so as you go back and forth on the rail, it acts as a pitch adjustment on the cheekpiece and any micro adjustments to pitch can be made with the vertical.
cheek piece $24.00, rail $14.00 (used on 3 stocks once cut). you may have to play with the "spring" that locks the cheekpiece into place for better locking and sturdiness, but i really like this cheekpiece setup.
