EGW aluminum base vs. steel base on a .308, stupid question inside...

so on my remington SPS 20" heavy barrel i have an EGW 20MOA aluminum base(came with my rifle, torqued per manuf spec), mounted on top are steel seekins rings

is it a weak link to have that aluminum base? The caliber is .308 and I just want to be sure to avoid any twisting, torqueing, etc... I mounted everything on the rail as per manuf specs...

I chose to go with steel and get rid of the aluminum only because of growth and shrinkage during extreme temperature changes. It may not be enough to worry about but I heard someone mention it once and my OCD would never let me live with it without constantly wondering! Be sure to mount the rail with only the front screws and see if the back needs to be bedded. Even my steel one needed to be because the action was off, not the base.

You're fine. As long as everything is bolted on solid it's not going to cost you any accuracy.

Been running the EGW heavy duty aluminum for several years with countless scope changes and it is holding up fine. I bedded mine with JB.

No need to get a new base. Many of the top brands (NF, Seekins, Badger, etc) are aluminum. The only issue with EGW bases is that the low cost versions don't come with torn screws and can strip if you're not careful.
