I have always ran picatinny rails for my bipod for 100% prone elr shooting. Seems like everything has moved to arca so much on stocks and chassis that not many options for the picatinny. I've been thinking about switching. I see there is the Rlok from RRS and then the arca from area 419 with the grooves that lock in. Is there any concers with arca for elr? Which system is better area 419 or RRS?

I use a accutac wb5 bipod and they have an adopter to switch to area 419 adopter I'm not 100% sure the RRS adopter will work with it.

I have a Desert Tech SRS M2 in 338LM. It has an ArcaLock bottom rail built in. When I got it, I tried a regular Arca clamped Atlas 5H bipod and it recoiled right off the rifle after about ten shots. I have switched to the 419 ArcaLock clamp and now it is a great setup. Especially with heavy rifles and heavy recoil the ArcaLock is best, but if you don't have a way to lock it, picatinny will work. I only have experience with the 419 system, not seen the RRS.

I've heard both good and bad. Some claim slipping of arca some don't. Seems like grey ops clamp is the best but still not 100% sure on it for the 300 norma improved.

Since the foundation samson came with a arca rail with rlok I tried the rrs arc clamp but unfortunately it doesn't fit on the new accutac lp50 the rrs head is to big. Seems like a great system but for now sticking with pictanny. I had foundation drill and tap the bottom of the arca rail so I could screw a pic rail to it and so far been working good.

IF you use the RRS RLOC or the Area 419 ARCALock you won't have any problems with recoil. The biggest issue is on ARCA rails that don't have either of those lock options, it WILL slide. There are also cheaper ARCA rails that are just ever so slightly out of spec that won't lock down with an RRS or Area 419 and they will slide around. Had that problem with a cheap ARCA rail on a Ruger Precision Rimfire and my bipod slid right off the end. Changed it out to an RRS rail and it now locks in tight using the RLOK.

So a quick update on the new accutac bipod lp50...... Great bipod really liked the design of it but there was an issue with it so I ended up returning it for a refund. I slapped the rrs clamp on my accutac wb5 bipod and the rlok system is pretty nice. I shot 20 rds with it a few off bench then rest prone and it is very solid. I'm going to run it for awhile and monitor it but can't see it slipping because of the pin and able to adjust clamp which made mine pretty dang tight.

I went 419 for everything, no more bipod slips. If you leave in the locking posts, and really tighten down, it can bite into the rail, and be less slippy, but deforms the rail.

Hey, did you need an adapter to put the RRS clamp on your Accutac?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Did you make the adapter yourself? or do you have a link to one? Any pics of the bipod?

I have an HD-50 that I would love to put an RRS clamp on, and same if I ever get the Hydro

    Thanks again,
    Scott
On my wb5 bipod you have to tilt it to take it off because the lever will hit which isn't a big deal to me because I don't ever need to take it off fast.
