ELR/PRS Matches near Atlanta GA beginning of May?

Arena might have something going on. Not sure if they have addressed some of their issues. Jay and I arerunning a match mid April that you might consider. Central VA is a 7 or 8 hour drive for you but that isn't too bad as these things go. Should be done Sunday early enough to drive back that day.

ELR is shooting at very long ranges and PRS is shooting at medium ranges in awkward positions. PRS gets way more people because the barrier to entry is very high for ELR both in equipment and shooter capability.

Can you elaborate on "the barrier to entry" part, please? Thank you for explaining this to me.

You can hold your own in PRS with a few grand in gear. You are probably looking at $10k or more to get into ELR with anything that can compete at the upper levels. You can probably use ammo off the shelf for PRS but ELR require precision hand loading and all the caveats that comes with. You then need to be able to read the wind and correct for it. To top it off you need to have practice with ballistics solvers and know when not to trust them. ELR is an order of magnitude harder and vastly more expensive.

Alex, I took your reply, translated it, and shared it with our shooters. Thank you. We are all the wiser now. -Migs
