Need to come up with an ELR target for 223 Rem (1100 -1760 yards). Don't think a T1000 hit indicator will work on my 2'x2' 3/8" thick of AR500. Thinking something like Mark and Sam After Work use. Something that will dent and knock off enough pain to see the impact without punching through. Energy upon impact should be roughly 200-300 ft/lbs. So far I'm thinking 11 ga carbon steel plate 2'x2'. Thoughts?

Get some 1/4” ar400. You don’t want it to dent. 400 is cheaper than 500 and is usually in stock at steel yards
What distance are you shooting that the indicator flashes? Also what grain bullet?

Your t1000 will work.
I put a 1/4 inch ar500 - 3x3’ target at 1790 and the 77gr mk262 I was shooting set it off.
took 32mils to get there but the indicators are sensitive enough to trigger
