Anyone shooting this round. I am interested in it and have done my homework on it. I have a TC encore pro hunter. How is the recoil of this round? Does anyone deer hunt or Elk with it?Just wanting some straight up info about the cartridge! Thanks

Fantastic deer cartridge, and more than enough for elk and moose. Nice to sling a heavy bullet. My shooting partner has one on an Encore and it shoots less than an inch with a 22" MGM barrel. I will ask him what the twist rate is. He is mostly using the 250gr SST's. Recoil is much milder than his Tikka T3 in 338WM but that should be expected.

I have a Ruger Hawkeye in 338Fed that I use for elk hunting. Medium weight rifle for hunting the mountains, recoil is very tame. I've been reloading TSX (185gr I think?) bullets and they seem to work OK on elk, not a long range cartridge but 300yds or less, no problem. Would also be an awesome black bear gun. Accuracy is around 1", I think accuracy could be improved but I haven't done much load experimentation.
