filled my last antlerless tag today near home. hit it with a lightfield sabot 2-3/4" EXP Hybred slug. Thought you might like to see a recovered slug that only went thru 7 inches of deer and stopped under the far side skin after blowing the backbone just behind the shoulders.
Deer dropped instantly, but needed a finisher.
here's the recovered slug - it was laying right under the skin on the far side, weighed it at 462.5 gr for slug only, and 513.1 for slug and birdie. Per Lightfield, the load started at it started at 546 grains - Assuming this is WITH the birdie for ballistics sake.
The mushroom impressive - it expanded to 1.210" from .630"
Deer is skinned and hanging right now, may get pics of the damage. I wasted some backstrap meat, but things happened really quick today. the shot presented to me was NOT a boiler room shot, and it was NOT going to present a side chest shot until it got way out of range. I again took the shot presented and have another deer in the freezer
