Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is anyone using one of these platforms? It seems like a good concept being able to swap out the back end holding the mag pouches for another weapon systems , leaving all the front mounted pouches in place.

I am thinking about getting the split front in 7.62 so I could open the front to get lower to the ground while in the prone. Has anyone used an Esstac chest rig system? What did you think? How durable is it? is it very bulky? Would you recomened this to set up?

Also would like to know of any similar 7.62 chest rigs with a split front and about a 6 mag capacity

Thanks

Re: Esstac Chest Rig

I have that exact rig, with the padded harness, hydration carrier, and padded rear belt.

It's a really nice rig. I haven't really used it for anything, so I can't commend on the durability, but everything I have read has said Esstac is absolutely top-notch.

It's a little thicker than some options because it's REALLY heavy duty and there are extra layers in the mag carriers and the velcro they attach with. It doesn't feel at all bulky or uncomfortable on, though.

On mine I have from left to right a 3 double stack pistol mag carrier, med pouch, small admin pouch, and pistol holster.

It's nice to be able to get in and out like a vest.

i really like that one but went with the weesatch by HSGI instead but i think it really comes down to purpose and preference. is this for .mil usage? shtf? competition?

Re: Esstac Chest Rig

I ran a Bush Boar as my chest rig for the last year I was in the Army and really liked it. It's modular and built like a tank. I ran mine with a Paraclete medical/breacher pouch on the front for access to the stuff I'd normally have in GP pouches on the side.

Esstac makes top notch stuff, and so does RedMan! I own gear from both these gentlemen...
