Gentlemen,

BLUF: Do you suggest the Spuhr 4902 for a TIKKA T3X in 6.5 with Vortex Razor 34mm 4.5-27x56 MRAD?

I trust you all are well.

It's been a while, however I have secured a Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 creedmoor. I am beyond excited. I was also able to pick up a Vortex Razor GEN II HD 4.5-27x56 locally for a great deal NIB. Also with that, an Atlas bipod.

With that being said, I am a little lost in scope mount choices. I did see in a number of threads the Spuhr 4902 being recommended. Apparently this mount will allow caps and sunshade to be utilized. Does this still hold true? What of a monopod? I also intend to also wrap my scope on a skin. Will it fit and are there recommendations?

Lastly, what tools do yall recommend for this process?

Planning on getting to KM later this year for their intro class.

I apologize if this thread is in the wrong sub-forum.

Semper Fortis.

Simple answer is yes, the 4902 should be a 34mm mount with 30MOA of cant and a height of 1.5”. This combo should leave you with clearance around a 56mm objective bell for skin/caps/sunshade and should be sufficient for most common purposes with the 6.5CM.

with that said, if you search around a little, there are lots of ways to mathematically or physically estimate the clearance that any particular height mount will give you. Taller mounts are a little more popular right now compared to the old-school method of always going as low as possible. As long as you have the 34mm ring size that you need, the height is entirely about getting the best fit for your face/neck/eyes. As for the cant, I believe the tikka has a flat rail so there won’t be any cant in your rail. A 30 MOA mount with a flat rail should still allow for a 100 yd zero and a lot of room left in the scope for dialing way up for those 1200 yd shots.

i don’t know anything about monopods. You should probably have an in/lb torque wrench or limiters with the necessary sized bits to torque the mounting bolts (cross bolts) and the ring screws. Other than that, couple of levels can make getting the reticle ABSOLUTELY VERTICAL...aligned with gravity..a lot easier. Beyond that, a little common sense goes a long way. Read up on “tall target test” if that’s not a familiar term to you. There are literally hundreds of pages on here about scope mounting methods. Everyone does things a little differently but the goal is the same.

NOLASAILOR54 - Did you ever sort out what monopod to get? I am in the same boat and waiting to pick up my Tac A1. Wanted to buy something while waiting, so looking for recommendations. The Atlas BT12 or BT13 look like good choices, just not sure which one will work.
