Expected accuracy with Colt LE6920?

Re: Expected accuracy with Colt LE6920?

1MOA would be asking a lot from a stock 6920. 1.5-2MOA would be average/acceptable accuracy with a decent shooter and ammo (commercial or properly reloaded ammo that is).

The other "limiting" factor will be optics versus irons. At shorter ranges, accuracy will be okay with the stock iron sights on the detachable carry handle, but will deteriorate at longer ranges (they are "combat" type sights...not NM sights). Your friend should be able to achieve better accuracy beyond the shorter ranges if he mounts some form of optic suitable for a lightweight carbine (I'd stick to something small, in the 1-4x range or so).

Agreed on several points. I'd say 2MOA is going to be the best unless you start customizing.

Don't think you need Colt either. There are plenty of just as good rifles out there for less money.

I have a 6920 with a DD 9.5FSP.With a good scope and Hornady 75 gr.practice ammo it will hold less than 1MOA @ 100yards.I also have a JP single stage trigger. It shoots good out to 400.Havent had a chance to try further. So freefloated and good trigger.Hope this helps.

Gentlemen, I stay away from AR15.com. AR15.com is by and large a group who engages in a form of pagan AR15 idolatry, very few operators and individuals with field experience. Lot of stuff is cut and paste internet Space garbage by mall ninjas that has been floating around for years. Got to wade through lot of clutter to find a little good info IMHO.

OP typical rack grade M16 series rifle in the Army shoots about 3 MOA (M855 ammo, locked in a rest). There are some that shoot better and some that shoot worse. Obviously match ammo and skilled marksman can improve that result.

Re: Expected accuracy with Colt LE6920?

I own one of those Colts and have played with it with a scope and in prone off bags and really paying attention I can get 1-1.5 moa with good handloads. However, it is not the best platform for long range. If that is what he owns then he sould give it a try and start learning the fundamentals or trade it for a more suitable platform. Colts hold their value oreety well.
