So everywhere I look I see all the rifles in PRS completely customed out. Nothing factory about them. But, I am interested in getting into matches. But all I have is my Sako TRG 22 in 6.5 CM. Can this rifle be used? I noticed somewhere it states that in the factory rifle class, any rifle cannot exceed a store retail value of 2500.00. I'm outta luck in that case. Where would my rifle stand in PRS? Or do I HAVE to put some aftermarket on it to proceed? Or maybe I'm comprehending the whole picture wrongly.

The TRG22 is a fine rifle and can hold its own if you do your part.

Yes I agree. Just shoots excellent all the time. I just like the factory stock with stock pack. Just works for me. I have yet to dip into a chassis to try that out, but that's an expensive try and there aren't a whole lot of options for the TRG.
If you are completly comfortable with the ergonomics i wouldn't change a thing.
The Sako will suit you well enough to know whether you like PRS or not. But, you will quickly realize that you need/want an ARCA rail so you can quickly attach/detach things like plates, bipods, barricade stops, etc... I believe the Sako TRG 22 has a proprietary fore-stock correct? Have you purchased the Sako bipod as well? Also, it has a 2-stage trigger...What is the trigger pull weight now (factory is 2 - 5 lbs right)? Finally, at 10.75 lbs, unless you've added weight, it might be a bit light. I'm asking these questions so you don't go down a rabbit hole on that rifle only to find that you might have been better off just building a new one. For example, spending $500 on a Sako bipod that may only fit that rifle (not sure about that, just using as an example). As I said, shoot a few matches with it, and figure out if it will fit the bill going forward or not. I started with a Bergara 6.5 Creedmoor and used it for about 7 months, then went to my custom build. Just my .02!

Love my TRG! They don't seem to be as popular since all the chassis rifles started appearing but you shouldn't be lacking for anything. The only thing could be accessory mounting for ARCA, bipod, and maybe additional weight. Best factory triggers IMO. Guys show up to their first comp with grandpa's 30-06 so you're fine.
All that you just mentioned has crossed my mind after doing research. If so happens I need more added, I have my eyes on the Vision and Cadex Chassis's. For some reason the KRG's don't appeal to me much. I do have the factory bipod so it's very easy to take off. My trigger pull I have set about 3.5lb.
Nice! Now, next question...If you like PRS do you think you might also look at 22 LR matches? If so, then think WAY ahead at standardizing both platforms so they are very similar. I'm not saying buy what I did, but just think about down the road and what might work. This is what I did for PRS and 22 LR:

Very very cool!!! I'm sure if I get the bug, I'll be heading into crazy waters. LOL! Only difference is, if my wife new what I spent on that TRG, Scope, Bi-Pod, Etc, she'd divorce me! HAHA! Thank god for money orders!
I ran a Ruger RPR in 6.5 with no problems. I now run a LH Tikka Tac A1 and added a arca plate to the bottom and I run it no problems i have 4 or 5 matches down
Some top shooters in my area are running all 6.5CM for caliber. Well there is a dasher and 6GT shooter too.
Rifles are mainly some flavor of Bergara HMR and arca railed with bags. Also an Impact action on the dasher.
It's the shooter of the rifle.
But I'd buy a Bergara HMR in 6.5 when it's in stock and deck it out for just about 2500. Then you can shoot "factory" class.
Or shoot open like stated above. If your TRG won't allow you to finish a PRS match you have other areas to look at.

I really wanted their whole chassis setup but they are saying that the TRG's made later than 2013 wont fit due to the trigger well being different. Really bummed me out. Cadex is researching this issue for me to make sure their Dual Strike will work. But I'm still in debate as I love the TRG the way it sits, but I see advantages with chassis's with all the adjustments and mod advantages.There is a suitable prs foreend for the trg made by vision.

Buy the gun you want to shoot because you want to shoot it. Not because it fits in whatever class the PRS Gods dreamed up that day at the round table. Your Sako will run fine with a few accessories. Forget classes. They're pointless for a new shooter to PRS. Shoot what you have. Chase points later.
This has been my dream rifle since 2008 and finally got it. Had no thought about being competitive till very recently. Can’t imagine using anything else. At least for now. Maybe dropping it in a chassis at some point but that’s about it. Don’t need to do much modifying with the TRG when it comes to trigger and barrel from what I’ve researched.
