I was hoping to get some opinions on what a fair price would be for this package. I don't see any hunting rifles being sold...mostly tactical stuff, so I don't know pricing.
  • Remington 700 ADL 30-06 (26" barrel built in the 1980s)-clovers at 100 yards
  • Leupold base and rings
  • Leupold VX3 3.5-10x-40 scope (not perfect, has some cosmetic issues, glass is perfect)
  • Sling
  • Limb savor (new in package)
Thanks

Friend bought a brand new ADL SPS about a month ago for less than $500 at Dicks.

I bought used gear off the Hide for him totaling about $275 which gave him BDL metal, a very clean 3-9X Vortex with adjustable turrets in QD rings, two sets of Uncle Mikes swivels and an MRT M1907 sling.

I provided a wood BDL 1968 donor varmint stock free of charge. Guessing I could have got $100 for it (maybe, maybe less).

Discount your used rifle $100 or so dollars. Stock doesnt matter and subtract the cost of the BDL metal ($50).

Unless its in collector shape Im guessing $700 plus or minus condition determining.

If your receiver is a sought after code for a clone M40/M24 build that may increase value.

Hope Im not out of line.

PS - Gunbroker probably has many rifles spec'd close to yours check their completed sales for real world numbers.

Thanks. It is not in collector condition...it has been hunted. Do you know which codes are sought after?

I think people pay a premium for the older Rem 700 given what the quality/fit and finish is on the new ones...at least that is what I hear and since Rem took over Marlin, the older Marlin 336 get a premium too.

I paid IIRC about $900 for my 1968 Varmint basically to use the receiver, trigger, and bottom metal for an M40 build. It was a 6 digit SN receiver. My 1968 also had the pre "bar stock" bolt handle that I personally lust over.

From the 80s to use as M40A1 build E codes are sought, might have been some C coded receivers. G code receivers are usually M40A3 guns. Unsure what the M24 used.

Gunbroker will give you a good idea of what completed sales went for.

Thanks. Serial number starts B64xxx. I could have sworn the guy I got it from said he bought in 1985 for his dad. But I could be wrong.

I would think as a package it would bring more than $500, but who knows. only way to know is to auction it off or find a local buyer that wants to hold it and shoot it before buying and he is willing to pay a premium for that.

I like playing these pricing games and usually find out Im wrong.

Post up some pictures and let the more astute add their guesses.

I will have to take some photos...today was the first time I thought of selling it. I'm not a hunter so the gun is sitting in the safe. If I can find a local guy to take it, I have about $100 worth of Hornady and Remington ammo to go with it.
