<span style="font-style: italic">dan46ns</span>,
As you were not able to find a P4F scope at the time (and presumably could not get a timeframe as to when you would be able to get one), I understand you not wanting to return the P4 scope and to wait for a P4F - you wanted a scope so you could go out and shoot. The question is, were you offered a return option?
If so, your decision to keep the P4 rather than return the scope, as well as your decision to have S & B change-out the P4 reticle for a P4F were exactly that - <span style="font-style: italic">your decisions.</span> I doubt that anyone held a gun to your head.
However, your sarcastic reference to <span style="font-style: italic">"reputable dealers"</span> suggests that the dealer would not make it right, when in fact it appears that you chose expediency over giving the dealer a chance to make it right by either issuing you a credit or refund, or ordering and delivering the "correct" scope to you when available.
<span style="font-style: italic">To all reading this:</span> I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread, and I apologize for this digression, but it was something that I felt needed to be said as dealers often don't get a fair shake.
I now return us to the regularly-scheduled topic...
Keith </div></div>
Keith,
The reason I used "reputable" dealers is because I was on the phone with this guy for a long time over a number of weeks waiting for a P4F. How the P4 came in I don't know but I would have expected a reputable dealer to send me the right optic or tell me he can't get the one I want. So, yes even the people reccomended on here can screw up.</div></div>
Your expectations are perfectly reasonable and I would expect the same. I expect companies and their salepeople to have a reasonable knowledge of products that they sell (for a S & B dealer this includes knowing the difference between a P4 and a P4F so that the dealer can help customers make informed decisions about what is best for the customer[s'] application[s'] and to avoid ordering errors).
However, no one is perfect. <span style="font-style: italic">Anyone</span> can make a mistake - including reputable people. Somewhere along the line an ordering or shipping error occured. Are you saying that because you did not receive the scope you wanted that the dealer you bought the scope from is not reputable?
There is inflection in your words that suggest exactly this, i.e. in the third sentence in the first paragraph of your last reply you say <span style="font-style: italic">"So, yes even the people reccomended on here can screw up"</span>, yet in the sentence immediately preceding you say <span style="font-style: italic">"How the P4 came in I don't know but I would have expected a reputable dealer to send me the right optic or tell me he can't get the one I want."</span>
If that was not your intention simple use of <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">reputable dealer</span></span> would have sufficed. The use of quotation marks around <span style="font-style: italic">reputable dealer</span> in your second post in this thread creates a negative inflection about that dealer, whether by design or not.
<span style="font-style: italic">Special Orders</span> notwithstanding, a reputable dealer would normally take the scope back, return it to their distributor, and obtain the desired / correct scope for you if available. If the desired / correct scope is not available they should inform you <span style="font-style: italic">(to the best of their knowledge)</span> of the ETA on said scope, issue you a refund on your card, or issue you store credit. If the ETA of the scope is unknown or expected to be a protracted period a refund or store credit is usually issued to the customer.

If you find the scope you want in stock I would say get it even if it's on eBay and pay with a credit card because sometimes these things can be very hard to get.</div></div>
While scopes and other things can sometimes be hard to get / find, purchasers of high-dollar items need to be very wary of Ebay. Most Hiders' know this but occasionally someone falls for a scam, which is why most here do not recommend eBay. I would only deal with a vendor on eBay if they were a known vendor (such as EuroOptics), and then only by first calling said vendor first to be sure the listing(s) are legitimate.

Fair enough. It doesn't sound like you had any time behind the P4 and P4F or closely studied the PDFs' of the reticles before you made the decision to keep the P4, but if you study the PDFs' you can get a pretty good idea of how much a given target is going to be covered by the reticle. At least you have the reticle you wanted now.

See the first two paragraphs of my reply that you are reading.

Point taken. While there are scammers all over, the comments and points about eBay posted by other members are valid, and I would trust Hide' S & B vendors and other non-Hide' authorized S & B vendors over eBay-only vendors any day of the week.
I now return us to the regularly-scheduled topic. Again.
