The father of a 5-year-old boy killed in 1975 is vowing to murder his son's killer if he is released, as scheduled, several years early from a 40-year sentence.

John Foreman said in an interview Monday with WPRO-AM radio that he will kill convicted murderer Michael Woodmansee "as aggressively and as painfully" as he killed his son if Woodmansee is released from prison early.

Woodmansee, who was 16-years-old at the time, kidnapped and killed Jason Foreman in 1975 in South Kingstown, R.I. He confessed and was convicted of second-degree murder eight years later.

Foreman was presumed to be missing until 1982 when Woodmansee tried to lure another boy into his home. The boy escaped and police began to question Woodmansee about Foreman's disappearance.

Authorities found the boy's skull and bones on Woodmansee's dresser along with a journal that detailed the gruesome killing. John Foreman told the radio station that Woodmansee wrote about eating his son's flesh in the journal.

"That's what he thinks about. That's what is still on his mind I'm sure, if gets out again, to do this again," Foreman said.

Woodmansee pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 1983 and was sentenced to 40-years in jail. This was part of a plea bargain meant to spare the Foreman family from hearing the details of their son's death.

But Woodmansee is set to be released 12 years earlier than was previously expected, the Providence Journal reports, sparking outrage from the Foreman family.

"I do intend, if this man is released anywhere in my vicinity, or if I can find him after the fact, I do intend to kill this man," Foreman told the radio station.

Amy Kempe, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Peter Kilmartin, said in a statement Monday that he was concerned and outraged about Woodmansee's scheduled release, and said he was urging the Department of Corrections to consider all avenues available to keep him behind bars. Kempe said the office would work with the Department of Corrections to review all legal options available.

Patricia Coyne-Fague, chief legal counsel for the Department of Corrections, said Monday she had not yet heard from the attorney general's office, but that typically the only way an inmate can lose good time he's earned for early release is if he misbehaves.

She explained that Woodmansee is eligible for early release under a longstanding law, first put in place in 1872, and last significantly changed in 1960. That law allowed Woodmansee to earn up to 10 days off his sentence for every month he behaved. Because he also had a job in prison, he was eligible to receive up to two additional days per month off his sentence for every month he worked at least 15 days, she said.

For his own protection, Woodmansee served nearly all of the last 28 years of his sentence in prisons in Massachusetts instead of Rhode Island, but returned to the state last week, the newspaper said.

He'd still be #1 suspect, except maybe on a hit-n-run....

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

He's crazy like a fox. He talks up the murder, hires a pro, makes sure to have a highly noticed alibi, and bam, one final piece of justice delivered.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

If he did kill the bastard and I was on the jury, the dad would not be found guilty. I would gladly buy him a beer after court adjourned.

I'd have killed him a long time ago, another reason i never became a police officer - i know it would not go well for me

"he went out for a smoke and never came back?"

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

If the father ever kills this man, I hope jury nullification kicks in to REALLY serve justice.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

Maybe he is making sure he is heard so the parole board, as appears is the case if he is getting out early, makes the call to keep him in, or, the guy is smart and decides to stay in vs trying to live on the outside with this guy out to get him. And, for that matter, how many other wackos have now heard the story that might just take care of things for the guy?

Either way, cant really blame the guy for wanting some true justice....as 40 yrs in a jail cell was NOT justice for what this poor excuse for a human did.

Just sayin.....

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

This is what happens when the ten commandments are taking out of the equasion, we are talking about one of the most lybral states there is, someone call a inmate at that prison system and tell them he raped, killed and ate a little boy. see how long that lasts. last rumor i knew about child molesters have a relitivly short life span in prison.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

I hope the father follows through with it. Show these scumbag criminals, us, as a society are sick and tired of their shit. Since the justice system lets em walk instead of making them swing from a rope, show these criminals, we will send them to a dirt nap.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

This is where the the justice system failed. What a waste of taxpayers dollars to keep a monster like that alive for 35 years This could have been resolved on a firing line with the dad holding the the rifle....

I cannot believe that the justice system may let a man go that ate the flesh his victim!!! and then going later for another young boy......

Anybody know a cheap hit-man.... Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

I agree. Take his journal he had when he killed the guys son and make sure not to leave out a single detail when doing it back to the bastard. This guy needs death and I hope they don't let him out or that someone else who is going to die soon takes this guy out before they go to save the dad the prison time.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

Its a catch & release program. If the guy gets released I hope someone takes him out quickly.

Imagine days past when you were identified a screw up and your picture was printed on a poster and handed out. Dead or alive and they paid in cash. That system worked pretty well and very few repeat offenders.

Two words "jury nullification"

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

Way back when, the dad would have had his "time" with that guy and there would not be a need for a prison sentence.

Reminds me of a story back in the 80's, I think, where a karate instructor kidnapped one of his students, and took him all over the country to "matches". He eventually turned himself in to the police, and as far as I can remember the kid was returned to his family. While being escorted through what looked like a train/subway station, the dad popped out of a row of pay phones and turned dudes head into a canoe. I do not remember if the father was ever convicted or not...shouldn't be too hard to look up.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

Make sure that every radio station ,TV station and newspaper are there to witness the dad killing this guy and be able to tell the COMPLETE story and they won't be able to find a panel of 12 or even if they do they won't be able to convict him. I doubt the dad cares if he is convicted as I know I would rest easy in a prision cell knowing that the killer of my son died a gruesome death. Just my take on it and I will swear, under oath, that we were fishing off the coast of the Virgin Islands.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

I don't understand why people like that aren't just executed anymore. And none of that bullet to the brain bull either, no, that's far too easy and painless. Burning to death seems appropriate for this man. Let his flesh fall from the bone while he's still conscience and breathing.

How did he even last so long in prison anyways? I know that rapists 'round here don't last very long in the big house. Let alone a cannibalistic child rapist. Usually hear about people getting beaten to death and nobody really cares because these abominations don't deserve to live.

Re: Father Says He Will Murder His 5-Year-Old's Killer

How is that 2nd degree murder? What do you have to do to graduate to 1st? That seems about as bad as it gets.
