Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

115g plated tmj bullet 5.5g unique, shoots good thru my wifes pps, my tec9 and walther p99. i can get 3-4" groups at 100 with my hipoint carbine

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

Glad to see I'm not the only one using Unique. I'm running 5.7gr Unique under a 115gr copper plated lead round nose for targets and 6.4gr Unique under 115gr JHP. I used to use Nosler till I couldn't find any...now I'm using Sierra's version. I liked the Nosler better.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

I shot a case or two of Unique over the years in the 9, and recently tried Power Pistol. I won't be looking back.
My bullet of choice has been the Hornady 124 XTP.
Load until you see north of 1100 for a 4" and 1125 to 1150 from a 4.5". I think you will like......
I am seeing 1125 from my G19 and 1190 from the G34 right now with great accuracy.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

I like 158 gr XTP over 11 gr Power Pistol with RP primed brass 1.169" and loaded ammo resized.
I recut the chamber throat to take the longer wider bullet.
The ammo must fall into and out of the chamber or the primer will pierce at 8 gr in the work up.
The appropriate recoil spring would be ~ 60 pounds, but is not practical, so there will be some slide slam.
Too much slide slam can damage the joints in the hand and/or cause a flinch.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

For the 9mm pistols that I have had I really like the following. It's a VERY clean burning load.

115 grain JHP, 4.5 grains of IMR 700X light roll crimp on cannalure. Ballpark velocity is 1175 fps. The chronogragh I had at the time wasn't the most accurate of instruments.

115 grain FMJ, or cast round nose, 4.7 grains of IMR 700X, same crimp.

You are the Roy Weatherby of pistols.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

Clark was the only one able to make "major" with the 25 acp.
105 grains at 1900 ft/sec.

I do like unique for the 9 x 19.
I have pushed up to 6.6 unique behind a 115 HP and the case was almost overflowing.
5.0 - 5.5 unique and 115's make for an excellent training load.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

Vihta Vuori 330 is the most accurate 9mm I have ever used in a 124 HP. 4.8 start to 5.2 to 1.14 oal gets you near 1200 fps at the upper load. Low flash.

Zeros for targets and Speer GDHP for other.

Re: Favorite 9X19 handgun loads

I can't make major with 25acp, but the good 25acp pistols can start the work up from double the max book load.

Primer falling out and concurrently failure to extract are the real upper limit for most 25acp pistols... they don't have an extractor, but extract through blow back action.
