Faxon Firearms, are they still in business?

So, I sent an unopened barrel back to Faxon Firearms (decided to go with a much higher quality barrel) and they have had it in their possession for over 2 weeks now. Other than an email prior to me sending it back, authorizing the return, they have not contacted me back. I'm seeing similar issues across forums elsewhere, too. Did Faxon Firearms close up shop, or is there something fishy going on? I'd be cool with just being told it could be a little while longer, but zero contact is unacceptable. This would certainly mark the first time I'd ever have to perform a chargeback against a firearm company, if they continue to not contact me back.

Well, I've initiated a chargeback with my bank. I'll keep this post updated once my bank contacts them and if they agree to give me my money back. Needless to say I'll never do business with them again.

They are probably overwhelmed with customers sending their junk back. I bought a 308 faxon barrel from a different shop, and it came in a plastic bag all beat to hell. The finish wall all blotched and spotted so I contacted faxon about warranty, they immediately responded with a return postage and had shipped another one to me also, before i even sent the other one in. I was impressed with the service. However the new barrel showed up, all dinged, dented, uneven blotched finish... so I contacted them again. They sent me another one..... said they had the guy hand select me one. It showed up. It was decent, ok, nothing you'd be impressed and set on your desk to stare at for a few days till you got to assembling it. I assembled it... was a few months till i got it out and tested... Very weak ejection, cycling issues, barely wanted to chamber.. Took home... inspected... they mounted the gas block about 1/4" too far forward so I bought an extended gas tube. Took back out couple week later to test... ejected a little better, still weak with JP gas block wide open. And cartridge still not feeding good. Turns out there is zero taper on the breech of the barrel and the tip of the bullet would catch the edge and just lock there. I looked online at other pics... every other barrel has a taper, if it was tapered the point of the bullet would not hit there. I contacted Faxon... this time they would not reply in the chat window on their website where Jesse always would in my previous several times contacting them. They had also given me a few other email addresses and I contacrted the product research and develpment guy also... no reply. nothing. Luckily the place I got it from after explaining the issue was in wow and said send it back we will deal with them.. so I sent it back. Then a few weeks later Faxon replied. The place i got it accepted it back and I got a Black Hole Weapnry barrel and it works perfect. Same receiver, same magazine.... Faxon is clueless. The finishes are horrible, the gas blocks in wrong location, the gas port was way too small, and the breech wasnt machined right....
Wasted way too much time dealing with them... Im guessing all the people with braines left and they just got a bunch of kids working there now. No clue how any of it even works.
My apologies for the delay! We have done a fair bit of testing on the "feed cone" at the breech end of the barrel and found that it can aid in feeding cartridges in some situations, but generally it presents a new set of problems in terms of accuracy and occasionally pressure. Since the rounds are still impacting the breech face they can be deformed slightly or even set back some. If you are primarily shooting M80 ball, this probably won't cause any noticeable issues, but it can be quite problematic with match or soft point/open tip ammunition. It can be especially problematic with polymer tip ammo as the polymer plug will often be pushed totally out of alignment or even broken off during the feed cycle.

In this same testing we noted that the main determining factor for whether a cartridge would properly enter the chamber or impact the breech face was it's presentation from the magazine. If the cartridge is held too high it will not "nose up" enough to reach the chamber and impact the breech face. We then tested various methods of lowering the presentation height and found that either modifying a magazine or the magazine catch to present the cartridge .005" to .010" lower will reliably solve the feeding issue. We also found that this issue tends to follow lower receivers but not barrels (we had barrels returned with this issue reported but could not replicate them on any of our testing receivers, but we have also had a receiver that would display this issue on any barrel/upper we installed on it). We have occasionally seen individual magazines cause the issue, but this seems fairly rare.

As for finding a favorable resolution for you with this particular barrel we do only have a couple of options. Since we can only issue a credit against an order in our system, we don't have a way of getting a refund directly to you (we can credit AT3 on their order, but we don't have a way to ensure they issue a credit to you), we are left with exchanging the barrel. We can exchange it for another of the same barrel or any other item in our catalog (or combo of items to get the full value). If you let me know what you would like in exchange for the .308 barrel, I can arrange to get it sent out as the "replacement" under our warranty policy.

Getting back to the subject at hand, they send me emails advertising their stuff almost daily. Most of it is strange colored AR15 parts that honestly, I would not be caught dead with. Some Bolt Action stuff, but I prefer going to people who have a proven track record. So, it just ends up in my trash file.

But, yes, someone, somewhere is putting out stuff that is supposed to represent Faxon. (Keep wanting to type “Klaxon”)

oh jeez... i hate customers so fucking much.
what i hear and i imagine they hear "i decided to return a barrel that i chose to purchase because i changed my mind im a finicky cunt like that"

it costs a company money to deal w/ crap like this
Oh I'm sure it does. Just the nature of the beast though. At least I left it unopened, so it could go right back into inventory. 🤷‍♂️

I bought a Faxon 16" pencil bbl for my 308AR. No problems and it does the job it was bought to do. Excellent truck gun. I'm sure it probably won't shoot MOA at anything over a couple hundred yds but my longest anticipated shot is like 150.

Oh I'm sure it works fine. That Criterion Core just can't be beat on paper. Lightweight, chrome lined, and lapped? Sold.

Now it's just a matter of getting time to play with it some.
