Hello All,

I was checking Midway for 175gr GMM for my brother and stumbled across this new Federal Edge TLR ammo. Looking at the specs it seems like Federal is throwing their hat into the long range hunting market. Figured I would put it up on here to see if anyone had some additional info and see if there was any interest in it.

I also found the new Gold Medal Berger ammo which seems like it's GMM but with Berger bullets instead of Sierras.

I did an informal test on the 185 Jugg load back in March if you're interested. It was started by Angler I beleive and is on page 2 of Range Report & Ballistics.

Are these fed tlr rounds supposed to be a competition for Hornady eldx?

I'm going to say yes which I find comical as they just put out a video a couple months ago showing their Trophy Bonded Tip ammo was much superior to the ELD-X as it retains more weight when fired out of a .300 WM at 100yds(180 TBT at 2960 vs 200gr ELD-X at 2860).

Of course no long range test was shown, after all why would you bother testing a long range bullet past 100yds? I they had balls they would would redo the test with the TLR rounds right next to the ELD-X and the TBT and see what the TLR does up close.

I agree. Although I think many of us would (at least I would) be surprised how many hunters are out there taking game with a 300 Wm at 150y and in only. which is fine if that's your bag. personally I'd be using a .308 or 7mm08 for that application but that's just me. I imagine a lot of guess don't shoot past max ord and use standard duplex reticles.
