Field Matches

I'm wanting a short list of field matches, preferably in the pacific northwest. I'm trying to plan time off for a couple of matches for next year.

I am aware of the Snipers Hide cup going on today, and the Kettle Falls Steel Challenge. Are there others? I'm not looking for sniper matches or PRS at this time.

Karstetter is a good one. The stuff for Rifleman's Team Challenge series is usually more field match oriented.

How is a field match different than a PRS match? I know field matches descriptions say something to the effect of hunting or tactical shooting conditions. I assume that means more prone shooting or off large natural props vs a barricade and over the hood of an abandoned car?

I honestly cannot remember. I have it bookmarked for that direct link and then I used the calendar ID in order to import it to my personal gmail calendar.

I wish that the RTC info was somewhere other than facebook. I kicked the habit years ago and finally got my wife off of it a few months back. We would love to participate in those, but have to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Field matches include ranging and target identification. Most often, they are 2 man team events. The ranges are likely to be a little bit longer and the round count is likely to be less. The problems associated with each stage use more natural terrain.

Although there may be some overlap, they differ from sniper matches in that there aren't any scenarios to play out, or stalking lanes. I think of PRS matches as being similar to IPSC or USPSA type matches, but with rifles instead of handguns. But again, there is ample room for overlap.
