it's ok, sticks to what you want to catch fire. doesn't blow around, etc. no need to shave stuff off.
problem is if you get it on you, you now have flammable, almost napalm like substance on you....be careful.
only problem (if you want to call it that depending on the situation) is that you need something to ignite the paste.
never seen wet wood catch fire, but the paste tends to burn on damp wood and has a good chance of generating enough heat to evaporate or dry out the kindling enough to get it lit.

Those little fire logs cut into quarters work better, because they burn longer. You have to get dried for it to burn good. Kerosene or diesel works real well to start up wet wood. The fire paste is what a friend of mine used to use to preheat his stove. It burns good for what it is but you'd need quite a bit to get wet wood going.

Like was mentioned, the little fire logs work better for long term. Hand sanitizer is a good way to get the little pieces of fire logs burning quickly if you have a mediocre way of ignition.
You should carry multiple forms of an ignition source:
Bic Lighters, Matches, and a striker bar is what I keep in several places while hiking.

What bohem said...(multiple forms needed for fire)I used it this past Nov. in snow on a hunt in mountains in Montana...worked pretty good for me...
