FIRING PIN STRIKE on OUTER RIM NORMAL?

I'm new to Rimfire. Though I have fired others Rimfires last week was my first time out with my own. Was swapping out the trigger spring and kept the brass from one round as to not damage any components when dry firing. Noticed this, strikes are all on the outer extremities of the brass. Now I have been firing centerfire weekly for several years so this seems odd to me. Please any opinion would help.

Normal.

You can continue to use it as a "snap-cap", just rotate it every so often. Then use another case after that one looks ridiculously like a flattened bottle cap.

Welcome to rimfire! What kind of gun and what mods are you doing?

First off, Thank you SnakeEyes. Bought a CZ 455 swapped the Barrel to a CZ Bull and refinished a Boyds Tactical Stock(Otherwise known as the "TACTICOOL") and f**k do I hate that term. Stupid if you ask me why they would do that but for a $100 stock didn't bother me as much. I refinished it with a rough finish Mat Black. Put a very sweet Bushnell AR 4.5-18(very surprised at this scope) especially at $195. Yodave spring with a pull at around 1pound+/-. First time out last week the groups got tighter on their own with every round. Didn't have the Yodave or the Bushnell. Tweeked the inch/pounds on the screws holding the stock when I read the barrel should be free floating so I did the paper between the barrel/stock test. Should be much better this weekend. Again, Thanks for your input.

I would also ask To everyone/anyone coming through this Thread, if you have any suggestions that have made you and/or your rifle better please feel free to share even if it is off topic. Thank you Brothers!

If you hunt or shoot at unknown distances... Learn your trajectories for the .22 and practice judging distances....It is a huge deal in shooting a rimfire. Watch the wind and learn to compensate with your hold.

If you want to see Really Good .22 shooters have a total train wreck - shoot at unknown distances out to ~125 yards or so.....

Sounds like your barrel shoots better when it's seasoned; that's normal and quite common. You may want to keep track of what ammo it likes, including lot number, as well as the number of rounds it takes to settle, as well as when accuracy worsens.

Your setup looks good! I have that same stock on a heavy barrel Ruger 10/22.

When using fired cases for testing strike footprint, and/or crush depth, or dry firing you should plug the case with some tissue. As mentioned on another thread "the residue left from burnt primer and powder is knocked loose and dumped in chamber throat creating an abrasive deposit that will cause greater/faster wear in that area".
