First 400m group

I was peasantly surprised this morning after zeroing my TRG42 from 100m to 400m. I dialed up and was 6in low. Made another adjustment and got it in the black shoot-n-see target. Once I saw the yellow dot in the black, I put an additional 3 downrange. When I got to the target I was pretty stoked to say the least. All I had was a cig butt to hold up to it for the picture - but you get the idea. later measured at 2.8cm

Well, the jury is still out on that one. Repeatability is realiability and time will tell. I am still learning. I was just pretty excited after my initial results. Hope to see that TRG (and I) reproduce some of the same. Just had a berm put in at my place at 400m and only had Saturday morning to shoot it. Although....I see not everyone is excited about it as I was. LOL

I'm excited for ya, and I really mean that. But, consider some sort of competition. It's there that you'll have a better benchmark for your ability, as well as some reward for the mental and physical pain of picture and motor memory development.

I'm possibly considering a class first. I have shot plenty of IDPA/IPSC, and did some High Power matches in my earlier years so competition isnt new to me. I am apprehensive about showing up to a comp and looking silly by asking questions I should already know before signing up to compete. I would like to for sure. Where do I look here to find anything going on in the East Texas area? I live about an hour North of Houston, fwiw.

I found the comps - looks like NTRP is having one close enough on Oct. 1-2. Will give that some thought...although it sounds pretty popular and space is limited. We'll see.

Graewolf, I highly recommend Rifles Only in Kingsville. I attended their pr1&2 last march.

I have seen the website and been considering something like that. NTRP is near me, relatively, as well. Although....$775 for an 8 hour course (NTRP) vs. a 3 day course at $650 (RO). Seems more would get covered over 3 days than could be shoved into 8 hours. But also have to figure in $700-1000 in ammunition as well and its just gonna be tough for me at the moment to un-ass $2000 for a rifle class, unfortunately.
