Headed out for my second year of archery hunting. Last year I had lots of deer running around but nothing came in for me to shoot at except a doe but missed. This year I hunted the first two days of PA archery in October but they were horrible. First day (Saturday) was 80 degrees and then the following Monday was rainy and muggy. Headed back to PA on Nov 2nd to hunt for a week. First night I had a buck walk from behind me on the right. He went past me on the border of my property and the neighbors farm. Deer made a left down a trail and walked straight in front of me broadside. By this point I had already been at full draw and released. Hit him in broadside and he took if into the tree line. It was a 20 yard patch of woods between me and the cornfield. I heard him rustling around a bit and then he kicked out another deer to me. Deer spotted me and took off. I was so excited from shooting the buck I wouldn't have been able to make a clean shot on the second deer even if he didn't spot me. I waited a little and climbed down from my stand to look for blood. Nothing!!! The neighbor came to help me search for the buck. It was pitch black by this point but we found him about 45 yards away in the woods between my stand and cornfield. Couldn't be happier with my first buck. And taking him with a bow makes it all the more special for me. This is my third year of hunting. Wish I had started way earlier in life.
