Finally got out to shoot a match and had a blast. I got 35th out of 83. No records set but for a first match I’ll call it a win. And that was with a few rookie mistakes. Mistakes including, but not limited to...using the dope chart for my 300 Norma Mag rather than the 6.5 and missing 3 very easy targets on one stage. I chose the wrong station on a multiple choice stage which I know because when I got to the lower portions that I could have chosen exclusively I cleaned the remainder of smaller targets. That cost me at least 3 impacts . Also ran out of time on my first stage because we slipped into a time warp and 1:45 passed in exactly 0:20 lol. That prob cost 3 hits. I could have gone faster but being my first stage ever I was trying not to be rushed. Turns out I shoot better when I go full throttle lol. Without those newb moves I would have landed somewhere in the teens!

I was very proud of how our gear performed. I used the Recon Mini and the ELR Mini only and never felt like I needed more. (I was also running an add on to the recon mini that will be announced soon)I was a little worried about the tank trap because someone had told me they couldn’t get it to work on one and I have never had the chance to test it. Well I went 8/9 on it and most definitely pulled the miss.

It was also pretty cool to look down and see a guy in my squad was running one of our bags. I didn’t even notice until the end. He got the recon bag I used today as a loyal customer bonus! Not sure what his handle is here but we always appreciate the support!

Your next match will be another first one...; and the next...

Treat each shot as the entire match; if the final scores beat your prior, you won. If not, you know where the work needs to be applied.

    It's all win/win.

Each shot as the entire match, I like it. I used to be a golfer and that was the same mentality with each shot in a tournament.

I definitely learned a ton from that match and intend step it up for sure. I don’t like to go into something like that with expectations of the results but I do go in with expectations to not make the same mistakes as last time. If I can do that I should do much better than last time.

I had a very similar experience with my first match as well. Being in the military my dumbass had all my dope in meters, but it didn't even cross my mind that the experienced guys ranging the targets were giving the ranges in yards... i realized this on the last stage of the day lol. NOTED! USE YARDS! Luckily the 6.5CM shoots pretty flat and I was still able to get some hits. Secondly, I'll be practicing building positions on barricades religiously. I learned that it is definitely something you MUST practice. Overall a great time, and I am hooked!
