I received my first NF scope this afternoon. It is a 3X15X50 with a Mil-Dot reticle. Looks like a very nice piece of glass.

I bought it used from Lin Schryver. It was exactly what he said it was-kuddos to Lin for being a stand up seller of merchandise. He also sent me a few extras that IMO went way past and beyond what was expected. Thank you, Lin.

Since it was a used scope there was no box or paperwork.

My question is how do I operate the illumintaed reticle?? Is it with the parallax knob?? I tried to pull it out, but I did not want to force it.

Any help on what I should do with this new scope. Or what it will do. Or any advice you might have would be helpful. Since I don't have an owner's manual to read.

I also ordered my new Cooper 22-250 this morning. So hopefully it will be here by Friday. This should make a great ground hog rig.

Thank you, and thanks again Lin for a very pleasurable experience. Tom.

Re: First Night Force

Thanks for that link Graham.

However I tried to pull the parallax knob in and out. It will not move, and I did not want to force it. I also tried to unsrew the cap while holing onto the lower part of the knob. It would not budge. And again I did not want to force it.

Did they make an NXS that does not have an IR?? I thought all the NXS scopes had IR?? Tom.

Re: First Night Force

I put a tad more muscle on it. And the knob came out, and the reticle lit up. I was just not applying enough force. But then I was holding the scope, it was not mounted. Thanks Again, Tom.

Re: First Night Force

Yes HOGG, NF will send you a manual. They will even send you a decal or two. There is an adjustment behind the battery to make the light brighter or dimmer. It dont take much of a turn to adjust the light.

PM me your address and I will send you a manual.

Re: First Night Force

You can download everything from NF's website. It's in the library.

Manipulation of the controls on a Nightforce takes a deliberate action. It appears that it is designed that way to prevent accidental adjustment.

he said stiff!!!!!

Re: First Night Force

Lin probably never used it much. First few times to pull it out is extremely hard. Call and get a book. Next item on the agenda is setting the brightness of the illluminatec reticle. My suggestion for that is 2 people and the book. Good luck !
