Finally got to the range with my new 338 Lapua. The downside was the max range there was 100 yards, but at least I could get it on paper. Recoil was not nearly as bad as expected, it was actually a pleasure to shoot.I was shooting prone off a bipod and my hand as a rear bag. Ammo was factory Hornady 250 grain. I think this is going to be one hell of a rifle once I get to a range that has some distance and work some loads up. Here are the specs and the last 3 shot group of the day, I would have done a 5 but ran out of ammo.

Stiller Tac 338 (left handed)
26" Shilen Select Match barrel with Sendero contour
Jewell HVR trigger @1.5 lbs
Suppressed Armament Systems QD brake
AICS 2.0 chassis
Stiller 40 MOA base
Vortex Razor HD 5-20 EBR2
Voretx rings

Re: First range trip with the Lapua

It's just the way the picture was taken, even though the bolt was fairly sticky upon extraction.

The blast is fantastic. There were a couple of guys shooting their 22's without hearing pro on. I highly suggested to them that they get some on before I started shooting, of course they just laughed and ignored me. After the first shot they were cussing and hollering wanting to know what the "f" I was shooting. They finally asked if I had some ear plugs they could have. I guess it was just one of those moments you had to be there for.
