First range trip with the new rifle

Rifle is a Remington 700p LTR .308 topped with a Leupold Mk4 6.5-20 TMR (and trying my homemade rear bags. two sock bags and a shoeshine kit bag, all with airsoft BBs). It was a nice morning with light wind from 6 o'clock.



I was zeroing the scope at 100 yards and had 168grn PPU "match" ammo. I'll soon be developing a 178 AMAX and/or a 155 SMK Palma load.

This was the best group of the day. I just used a target that was already posted so I didn't have to call a cease fire just to start shooting, so this group is just the 3 in the middle.

I'm loving this gun and can't wait to see what it does with a god hand load. I may also get some 175 FGMM or 178 Hornady HPBT to try out some true factory match ammo.

Nice looking rifle Ben. Did you shoot the groups off of the bench or prone?

Thanks. Off the bench. I tried to load the bipod but on the concrete I got tons of hop. Next time I'll go prone.

Try putting the legs of the bipod in the dirt in front of the concrete or string some 550 cord between the benches and load into that.

Nice first outing. I've got an LTR topped with a Mk 4 too. good shooting short stick.
