I grew up hunting, most of the game I’ve shot were writhing 320 yards or so had one buck taken at 517 yards several years back. Most of my shooting has been at a 100 yard range, to get a zero then hunt. I had the opportunity today to go shooting with an old friend that I just reconnected with I haven’t seen in 20+ years. He had gotten into long range shooting, so he invited me today to go with him and a couple other guys. I had nothing planned so I tagged along. One of the guys let me shoot his AI 338 LM, damn that is a nice rifle. They had a 22” steel plate set up at 1360 yards, according to the DOPE it was 9.8 mils and 1 mil for wind. First shot, miss. I relaxed a little, got back on the gun and hit it three consecutive times, missed the 5th shot then hit the 6th. Truly an amazing experience. I look forward to diving deeper into this type of shooting and maybe even look into PRS match’s.
