Re: First time out this year..
Simple really, just take your time.
What you will need:
1.Threaded binder posts. Either 3/16 or 1/4. Whatever you decide on. They come in different lengths, and have a threaded I.D. find one thats just slightly shorter then the width of your stock, or trim one down a bit.
2.Screws that match the thread size of your binder posts. I went with countersink screws, with countersunk washers for a clean look.
3.Allen wrench
4. Propane torch.
5. 3/16 round file.
1st thing you need to do is remove the trigger group from your receiver. As i stated in the above post, its the rear hole in the trigger group you will be working with, along with the receiver hole that it mates to. You may be able to find 3/16 binder posts, then you will not need to do any drilling accept for the stock. I decided to go with 1/4 because there was a wider range of lengths available at my hardware store.
The first step is the important one, because its the only way to make your hole in the stock in-line with the receiver/trigger group hole. With your trigger group removed, place your action in the stock and secure it with the action screw. I also used black electrical tape towards the rear of the receiver, because your working with the gun upside down.
With that being done, get an allen wrench that is slightly smaller than the receiver hole, but isnt to sloppy. Heat the allen wrench with a torch until cherry red, and burn through the stock from the inside out using the hole in the receiver as a pilot. Try to keep it as straight as possible.
Once thats done, run a 3/16 drill through to ream the holes to size. If your using 3/16 binder posts, your done. If using 1/4", drill your receiver holes up to 1/4", as well as the trigger group hole. I recommend using a drill press to keep things straight, though i used a hand operated drill. I had to do some finish filing of the holes to get the binder post to go through. For this i used a 3/16" round file for sharpening chainsaws. When done its all very snug and solid.
