I finally got to take the rifle out today. I ran both 168 and 175 Federal, Black Hills, Corbon and HSM. The 168 Federal and Corbon shot 1/4 MOA, and the 175 Corbon and HSM shot 1/4 MOA. Surprisingly the Black Hills shot the worse. My 700 AICS loved 168 Black Hills.

Having very limited experience with ammo, I do have a couple of questions though...is it normal for $20 ammo to shoot as good as $40 ammo, and what is the reason for the big difference in price?

Anyway, I thought I would share the fun I had with the group.

It all depends on which ammo your rifle likes. If you took two identical rifles made one after the other on the same manufacturing line, it wouldn't surprise me if each rifle liked different ammo. That is just the way some rifles are. Some shoot few types of ammo well, some (like yours) seem to like anything. It is especially nice when you find cheap ammo that your rifle likes.

I have an early Eagle 5.56 rifle that loves the cheapest Sellier and Belliot ammo I can buy...the stuff in the turquoise colored box that used to be around $4 per box. With that ammo and iron sights, the rifle would shoot inch to inch and one eighth groups at 100 yards. Ya' just never know what your rifle will like.
