Folks wanting to get into LR have notions about it, that's to say, they think they know what's important to the concept; and, with such a mindset, seek out knowledge about equipment, sights, supports, and ammunition. Thing is, these considerations, outside a context of basic marksmanship, are not the aids to good shooting they are seen to be. My suggestion, attend a CMP Clinic and then get your feet wet in some sort of NRA LR event using borrowed equipment. From initial failure, you will see what's really important and thereby be prompted to study upon the elements, principles, and factors which are actually meaningful to LR success instead of wasting time on topics which will only detour you from your destination.
