Today I went to the Arlington Sportsman's Club to shoot the fisrt benchrest match with my new Tony Kidd. I learned allot today. Mostly to answer an often asked question evrywhere, "which is most accurate, bolt or auto .22lr" Well In my opinion, the bolt is still king. There were only two of us shooting autos. The other shooter was shooting a full house Volquartsen, pretty even match as I only squeezed by him by a point or two. This was a 50 yard match. I was shooting a scoped auto, so I had to shoot the 25 yard BR target, while the iron sight shooters shot the NRA 50 yard target. These bolt guns can shoot, Most were customs, there were a few 40X and factory Annies. Ductape, from here on The Hide was shooting a CMP Kimber model 82 with iron sights. Hell of a group!! Tons of fun. The bolts are more consistent shot to shot, in my opinion. They all told me anything over 230 (out of 250) was good for a semi- auto. The Bolt gunners were all shooting 249's and 250's, separated by X-ring hits. Here is my Kidd and target, the NRA bull is Ductapes group.
