In just under 2 months I'll be fishing in NW Ontario. I can't wait. I haven't fished in Canada since I was a freshmen in High School (I'm 43 now). Heading up there with my dad, and dad-in-law. Gonna stay in a "fly in" outpost. Should be a good time. I've ordered up some new equipment, line, leaders, lures, etc. If I remember I'll post up pics when I get back. The cabin is so remote we only have a sat-phone for emergency communication. Hopefully all 3 of us come back :)

Remote? What lake are you flying into? Anywhere about 25 miles north of Hwy 17 you're out of cell phone tower range. I'd recommend you get a couple of cooler aerators and bring in 15/20 dozen large minnows. That time of year walleyes are tough but the jacks will hit anything, anytime. Good Luck - We went a month ago but we go in with 4-wheel drive vehicles, maybe portage some and set up camp using tents and bear fence. The fence just gives us peace of mind when on the water, that our food supply and tents will remain untouched.

Found it - south of Red Lake. Nice looking lake. We fish a ways to the East of that area - also part of the English River System. Hopefully the outfitter's boats will have depth finders - if not, be sure to bring a portable unit. We found the walleyes to be in 3.5 to 5 feet of water in the bays and 12 to 16 feet in the river. Fishing shallower or deeper on the river chain this spring produced few results but found them schooled up in some locations in the 12 to 16 foot range - basically drifting with the current jigging with minnows worked best.
