Is there a good flash suppressor that would work well on a .308? Would it cause accuracy problems? What would be the standard thread pitch? The rifle is a Stiller Tac 30 with Krieger varmint contour 1:11 20" barrel. Thanks.

Re: Flash suppressor for .308

I'm sure there are many. I just watched my gunsmith put a Badger on my 308 Krieger barrel. Keep In mind that it is job for an accomplished Smith to do.

Re: Flash suppressor for .308

Not sure about the flash suppression ability, but I've got a Badger FTE on my .308. It reduces recoil by (a super rough guess here) 40ish percent. I'd look into it though, cause like I said, Im not sure if it will tame a flame.

And as far as follow up shots, the FTE allows me to stay in view of the target through the scope at max power. One of my biggest issues before hand was follow through and not being able to see the "hit", but those are problems no longer.

SUREFIRE... MB762SSAL/RE

even if you don't buy a can for the weapon. I really love what i have. Helps me keep the rifle on target and kills the muzzle jump and the natural up and right that guns can do. The surefire kills muzzle flash very effectivley.

That's really more of a brake with a little flash suppression at the end almost as an afterthought.

Brakes reduce recoil, flash suppressors do not. Brakes rarely reduce flash. Sometimes, based on design brakes can actually enhance the flash.

The ultimate flash suppressor is a Suppressor (a.k.a. "Silencer" or "can"). .308 standard threads are 5/8-24TPI here in the US.

Re: Flash suppressor for .308

I'm running a vltor ( I think it is called a 301). It is a flash hider only, but I feel like the recoil is "smoother," and perhaps a little less than without. If you are looking for just a flash hider for a varmint contour barrel, it is a good one. It matches the OD of the varmint contour perfectly, and is simple to time (you could use the provided washer, or sand the back of the brake by hand). I use it as a muzzle / thread protector primarily. Because they run about $50.00, it's not too much more than having a good thread protector built. It is also short, adding about an inch and a quarter overall. I have only shot it in dark once, but it works well at hiding flash with FGMM 175s. I'd have no issues recommending it.

I have one of these on my 6920 and it is great, there is less flash, there is a video out there that shows the difference in flashes. I will be getting one for my 5R for sure. it is a little louder but I think its well worth it.

That sounds good. I might need to get one. I'll check out some vids. Thanks.

Re: Flash suppressor for .308

i have this pws on my ar 10 and it is really good. i am super happy ith it. planning on adding one to my 300 WM. the above is correct it is mostly a compensator and not so much on the flash hider part.
