Sorry, this is the funniest thing I could find....

Apparently, Florence Henderson is simply not funny.

We haven't had a big one since Irene in '11. That did a lot of damage to some of our deeper valleys where the rain came down the steep valley walls and did massive damage along the valley floors. Completely re-drew the riverine map of the state.

We'll see if it hits. We're due. About every 10 years.... And it's been that kind of summer. Feels like we're due.

Well, my pond is low...

What about Sandy? Fucked up NY really good. Houses under water and shit

Sandy stayed south of us... but, yes, it did FUBAR NY and NJ. Unfortunately... the wrong parts. Instead of washing The Hamptons out to sea... it flooded out the fireman and the cops and the 'working' folks' neighborhoods. Sucked.

Northeast Hurricanes always suck....

Imagine what it was like back in the day when you had no idea it was coming... this is an amazing documentary...

Cheers,

Sandy was bad! I spent 21 days in and around New Jersey restoring power. On the way home I called the flower shop and had some flowers delivered to my house. I had the flower girl sign on the card "I had a fling with Sandy but I'm coming home"! The flower shop girl got a good laugh! I had a fun afternoon once I made it home!

I've worked most of the major storms during the last 30 something years. Hope you guys are not hit too hard with this one.

hopefully its a category 10 and wipes DC off the face of the earth. NYC and MASS too. so many problems cured in 1 storm. oh the possibilities.

Could be good, but I'd really hope for a giant space rock instead. Less cleanup locally afterwards, just a nice new coastline, probably with waves taking out a lot of other evil coastal cities around the world and a couple years of global cooling to freeze off all the earth worshipers.

Any impact big enough to take out an entire city would probably be an extinction event, I'll pass.

A massive city sized sink hole would do the job with less fallout.

That's what they try to tell you to scare you. An impact big enough to take out NY and DC and a few places like that would be just fine for the planet, there would be some people freezing and some starving, but we'd be fine overall assuming we still have plenty of oil or working nuclear reactors.

To really make a difference you'd have to have something like what carved out all of middle america into the thin strip that is central america and the gulf coast.

I am an old cold warrior, I am okay taking my chances in global nuke war, why the hell do you think I would care about a alleged extinction event???

I guess a lot of people recently got a bit too propagandized about how if there is even a couple nukes going off all life will end etc. Or some space rock will suddenly make the earth barren. Liberal propaganda "science" and disaster movies...

Compared to back many years ago people of intelligence had a pretty good idea about how to plan to ride out a global nuclear war and survive well & get back on with life as soon as possible. Just look at Japan... got nuked... bulldozed back over it & built up the cities again.

Survive the strike, don mopp gear then get on track and go kill all in front of you who survived, kill every last communist, every one of them, chances you are going to die anyway and that your family in the states are already dead so no need for niceties, no need for discussion either because this is a well practiced plan.. permission not needed.... autonomous operations

thinking back I gotta say we have pussified everyone.

I have plenty of bullets and enough good bourbon to last awhile. My in laws asked my wife if we had been stocking up on water and food, my wife told them no my husband sticks up on bullets and powder they asked why she said we have deer and turkey and a water well and if it got bad enough I would go take what I needed from the peepers that don’t believe in guns.?

generally speaking more than man can produce, even thee enhances neutron type stuff can be produced anough to destroy man or the earth, its soviet propaganda from the 60's perpetuated by the predecessors to BBBB and avidouchenozzle. think of nukes as big artillery and gravity bombs. You can go visit testing sites, the footprint is remarkably small.

Generally speaking, what kinda megatonnage is needed for say, death or mortal wounding of ~50% of earth population with normal fusion nukes? No enhanced radiation/neutron bomb type weapons.

Which is why I think the weapon system from my avatar picture is the most gutsy anti-communist infantry weapon before people ran out of balls.

You are on patrol and you crest a hill and see a soviet tank group pouring over the landscape... Well you have a communist killing weapon with a dial a hurt selector and on maximum setting it may have an effective range greater than the delivery range... if you are going down, you are taking out a whole townload of communists with you. That's deterrence for you.

It was a very important (and brilliant for that matter) move by the soviets to engage the leftists in this country to destroy the will of this country to use our best weapons.

Pretty much for all their bluster the Soviet Union bosses eventually realized that their nukes were not reliable or efficiently launched and their delivery systems had even less reliability and in an actual all out nuclear exchange, they may have at best landed 1 nuke for every 10 or 20 that we put on them, we would have cleaned up our losses and moved on easily but they would have been wiped out.

So.... convince the Communist teachers & professors to indoctrinate a whole generation or two with a fear of us using our own weapons against our enemies & then of course get your buddies in the "entertainment" industry to follow along.

There is a couple good full length DVDs that just simply show all the test footage in order from the USA, USSR & China as well as listing the french, English and Israeli tests. If you watch them, you'll realize how many hundreds of nukes were set off above ground in testing and development by the USA, USSR & China and guess what... the world was just fine for the most part.

My favorite clip is from the Chinese tests of one of their Fission devices... The bomb goes off, blast wave passes then all the soldiers jump up out of their trenches, start charging, weapons drawn into the area the blast had been... I guess just in case anyone survived?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, an asteroid is like a bullet, not a bomb. You need a really huge bullet to take out a whole city and that's going to kick up enough dirt to cause that extinction event.

Using a 50 megaton H-bomb would probably destroy most if not all of a city with much less fallout.

A sink hole would be much less drama. I would only ask "Did it get Pellosi and Feinstein?" and go on with my day (or try to kick Pellosi and Feinstein in to the hole).

Shot, I haven't paid much attention to the weather this week but I guess I'll be at work for a long time it looks. If she comes right up the bay maybe I'll be able to get a few more tl3 barrels spun up....

nice hanging out with you all here over the past years guys but I really hope your area breaks off from the surge and falls into the Atlantic. If you are in DC I hope you drown like the rats you are. You all that are Richmond and south, good luck an stay safe.

The redneck navy will not be coming to help, we know when we are not wanted.

Jerry has a propensity to lump us all together but we know he means well
I consider it an honor to be discriminated against and geographically profiled by AJ.

I know, I know. AJ is secretly both thankful and jealous there's some of us brave enough to operate on the pointy end of the spear inside unfriendly territory. It's OK AJ, we do it so you don't have to.

I've bought more ammo like you tell us to...

I aint profiling, I am from commie land, thats why I hate commies so much, I pray for the day the ramp on the C130 drops down and I get to jump into my hometown and take care of business and liberate it.

Dont become collateral damage, GTFO while the GTFOing is good.

Don't know how many iPad or iPhone users there are but there's a cool app called iHurricane (no financial interest)
It gives you all the data, path and projections. It's been pretty good for a while.

Looks like ol' Florence is going to strengthen. Better stock up and get ready to hunker down.
