im goin to add another flush cup to one of my manners. Looks straight forward enough but just wanting to know how to drill it and not chip the hell outta the forearm, thanks in advance.
I used my mill like a drill press. I put masking tape over the spot I was drilling to keep it from chipping. i did two stocks and neither chipped. Just take your time setting everything up nice and straight.
I use my mill with an endmill at about 3000 RPMs, bores a nice clean hole. A drill bit would be second best, but I'd probably opt for at least using a drill press over a hand drill.
Buy a Forstner bit of the right dia for wood working. Has a little pilot for guiding the start and a flat cutting angle for no chipping. Use this method all the time in my drill press with the stock held tight and never had an issue.
IMO, you want the non-rotating style of cup so your sling does not twist.
