OK so we are leaving Germany in Feb and the gov't will pay for us to get to our next base... which is in NC. We are flying through Baltimore but we are trying to get the cheapest/best transport to SLC. I am thinking that we go to NC drop off the cat and then fly from there to SLC via Southwest. I don't think it would be an issue that way but we have 2 kids... I was thinking about getting one a seat and holding the 5 month old... I found 3 tickets round trip from NC to SLC for right around 1200 total. Can anyone find anything cheaper? What about driving? We are going to be buying a new car which we would be taking but the time of year is really bad(feb)... thoughts?

Re: Fly, Drive, or Walk?!

I don't know much about the trip from Germany to NC, but when Rambo was asked "how many days walk" from Afghanistan to Arizona, he estimated it at about 2 years. Even if you can make it in a year and a half, I would advise against that option, although, on the up side...your 5 month old can probably finish the trip bipedal so that's a little less for you to carry.

Other than that, I'm not much for price estimations on today air lines lol. Good luck and "almost" welcome back.
