Sounds interesting. I heard that handloading that little cartridge is a bit of a pain and ammo isn't as cheap as .22. But it could be a fun plinker. You could probably get away with a short barrel aswell.

Personally I would just chamber a .223 Rem..compare the bullets and brass with respects to cost, avaliability, and performance and it looks like the 5.7x28 is the solution to a problem no-one has.

Agree on that. However, if you are using AP rounds, then it is a whole different beast in close quarter.

I thought that AP rounds were only for sale to LEO/MIL though?

You are correct. However, the original hollow point was quite devastating also. I used to have over 3 thousands rounds of those before I sold all 3 of my 5-7.
