FN SCAR™ 17S with 20" Barrel?

Does anyone have information about when or if FN will ever produce the SCAR™ 17S with the 20" barrel? The standard interchangeable free floating 16.25" hammer-forged MIL-SPEC barrel should be interchangeable to accommodate the 20" barrel of which I heard was suppose to be released the end of last year. Well it is February now and I haven't heard anything more about it..

FN would be the best place to go to find out the information. However, they are sorta famous for delays.

Rumor has it that they were supposed to have a bunch of different barrels (e.g. SBR lengths) this year. Fingers crossed.

The link is not working. Is the link to Hi-Desert Dog? Hopefully it is not a link to them I have been trying to get them to tell me when their 21" barrel will be available. I am also looking for a long range barrel for my SCAR 17.

The question is why? You really don't gain a bunch of velocity with the anemic .308 (compared to other .308 Cased rounds like .260/.243/ect) and take away one of the best features of the rifle... light weight and handy.

If you MUST got 20", then rechamber into something like .260 so you can atleast take advantage.

Also, this thread is years old. Maybe be a little less lazy and fire up the google machine........

Trust me I saw that before I ever even purchased my scar. I have sent Hi desert dog several emails, and have only had one reply. When I saw their .260 kit it was the final straw that lead me to pull the trigger on my scar purchase. It was part of the motivation that propelled me in the scar direction. When I contacted them they told me they don't know when the .260 will be available, they said they dont have any .260 blanks that are not already spoken for (I contacted them after i purchased my SCAR) I would prefer a .260 scar vs 308. However It would be Cool to have both a 308 and 260 21" kits to swap. I am just simply looking for Hi-Desert Dog alternatives. Or news on if FN is going to ever release their 20" 308 barrel.

I am very interested in the Hi-Desert Dog packages I expressed to them I would be happy to wait I just wanted to get my place in line and would be happy to throw down some $ to do so, and they replied that they are not even accepting custom orders until January. The 3 possition gas block is cool too. Being able to turn the gas of is appealing. Anyway looking for info. The thread was old so I was curious of anyone had heard anything since the last post.

^exactly my thinking, how hard can it be unless there are legal restrictions? Seems all the scar owners are chomping at the bit for someone to make it happen
