FNG here from south, FL. I've wandered here from time to time from searching for info on google. We finally have a place to shoot here locally that offers something past 100 yards so I signed up because now it's time for a bolt gun. 500 yard range opened up very close to where I live. My only time shooting for precision was a brief span of time plinking at 50-100 yards with a Savage MK II FVSR that I use to own, which was A LOT of fun by the way. Finances at the time forced me to sell that rifle but I have missed it dearly ever since. At 50 yards with standard CCI 5 shot groups the size of a dime were easy, swapped to a Boyds Stock, DIP bottom metal and can't remember offhand now what scope I had but it wasn't anything overly expensive. also had a harris bipod which was donated by a buddy.
Looking to get into a bolt gun now, and I am now remembering how overwhelming all the info is. I do reload and enjoy doing it, and recently got a Redding Single Stage in just for this purpose. Reading up on 308 vs 6.5 creed moor, like what I'm reading on the creed moor but still have a lot to learn. I'm no sniper, and don't pretend to be one, and as I grow older getting tired of the "tactical" HSLD wanna be BS that surrounds everything Carbine in my area, lol. Been reloading for handgun since 2009 and have come to enjoy reloading as much as if not more than shooting. Get out to IDPA when time and family obligations allow.
My shooting with this next rifle will be for fun at the range and ranges available to me are 500yds, 200yds, & 100yds. The 500/100 are the closest and easiest accessible to me, with the 200 being about 1.5 hour drive.
Glad to be here and hoping to learn a lot.
