Haven't been on the computer in a few days, just feeling blah and recovering. Still not much sleep...

So I finally got my surgery on both feet. Yeah, I'm laid up pretty good this time. They of course screwed up the pain meds so still trying to unfuck that. I bet if their big toe got cut off and screwed back on and partial amputation or refixture of the second toe on the other foot they'd act a bit quicker. I can put weight on the foot with the smaller toe and I have a scooter I kneel on BUT that's with my bad knee. I just got 30ml fluid pulled off of it last week and a cortisone shot that prevented me from sleeping for a week. He found 3 bone fragments in there, what's been locking it up all this time. This new doc never listens to me. I FINALLY got an ortho consult, so right when this heals I'll be getting surgery on my knee. While I'm laid up and keeping my worst foot elevated, that of course aggravates my back. Goddamnit, it's ALWAYS something. But hopefully I can walk and maybe even hike some after this. And stand at the press longer. And buy normal boots. I hope so, I don't wanna go through all this for nothing again.

And during all this fun stuff, I got blood work and it's still showing high WBC and the doctors are now concerned that I may have leukemia, what killed my great uncle. I sure hope the fuck he's wrong on this, I gotta get more blood drawn soon and probably see a blood doctor. I've had high WBC for a long time but I'm always fucking myself up and there's a reason, like broken bones or rejected implants. Maybe it should have been looked at sooner but you usually don't look at cancer as the first reason. And I hope he's wrong about this like he was about my knee, I've got enough problems without worrying about that, but I guess people live with it for a long time and never have any issues. With the VA handling this, it'll likely be six months to a year before I find out if I do or not, so not holding my breath. But they have seemed to be moving faster than usual with this. Again, I hope he's wrong and it's just the usual me being hard on my body, which wouldn't surprise me.

Wow. Just one thing after another. At least I got some range time in the day before the surgery. Hopefully the surgery improves my ability to do some things, a good thing. I wanted this done, needed it done. Gotta start looking into moving after it all heals and get the knee done. Anyway, wish me luck on all this shit!

    Stryker,

It sucks! Monday I had my right knee replaced. The surgery went well, recovery in the hospital was a piece of shit. Seems like they do whatever they want no matter what. I was getting hit with a shot an hour (3 units) of insulin because my blood sugar was over 150. And they tried five different types of blood pressure medicine because my blood pressure was "high" 170-180's/70-80's. I told them to move the goddamn cuff over the brachial artery...low and behold the pressure went down. Seems like they don't teach nurses 20" arms are different than their skinny little 12" arms. Anyhow, the blood pressure was down when measured right and the nurse goes, "It must've been that last dose of blah blah/whatever we gave you." I just rolled my eyes and said do it again where you measured it. They said they were busy with other patients and had to go. Just glad I got home without being totally polluted by all the shit they wanted to stick in me.

And, the blood pressure thing really pissed me off as the second day, when it was "high", ten different nurses took two shots each at trying to hit a vein for my IV. The eleventh nurse hit it on the second try. 22 pokes to try and get blood. My blood shoot have been shooting out of my veins if it was as high as they say.

Man, I feel your pain, get well soon!

Yeah, lots of issues with hospital staff fucking up my blood sugars and trying to use one-size-fits-all BP cuffs. It's like watching some numbnuts chase zero with a hot barrel and fucked rings.

Been down a similar road so you’ve definitely got good waves coming from me. Hang tight. Getting old is not for sissies.

Thanks guys, I'm really hoping for the best after I heal up. Really hoping I can walk and maybe hike some. The knee surgery should go quick and heal quick. Just hoping the WBC thing works out, trying not to worry about it because I can't do anything one way or another right now. I've been walking around on broken bones for nearly a year now so hoping it's just a low grade infection from that maybe.

wtf is going on ,,, everyone is falling apart,,,,yeah we lived good lives,,, rough on the body,,, but dam,,, the c is not good,,, attack it luke the badass you are..

pull out your bayonet and cut a drain hole for them..

It sneaks up on you when you least expect it and takes your ass out like William Fairbairn. Not kidding, that's how it feels. Usually I gain a little ground or start feeling better and start doing more and then "BAM!" it takes me out again. Sometimes I feel like the monkey in the well, one step up, two steps back.

I've had multiple foot surgeries, so this is nothing new for me but it does suck. I just hope it's worth it and it fixes the problem it was to address. I figured I let it out and bitch about it here since I know I'm probably not alone in any of this. And wish anyone that is sharing this suck with me, whatever it may be, that they heal fast and come out better than they went in.

    Dang buddy. Heal up fast.

Hard to tell with those WBC. Guess it depends if there is a shift and what kind are where, maturity of cells and such.

It does bear a lot after they have been screwing around in your body and sounds like some hardware involved.

Also, unfortunately the VA does not attract genius so its hard to tell what kinda your dealing with.

Heal fast. Day by day, plug away.

LOL. My sister in law is nurse. The kind of nurse you want taking care of you, because she will catch it if a doctor screws up. I was talking about my blood pressure always being a little high, except for when this one nurse checked it.

She said "does she get a special cuff?" I said "yes, it must be broken." She said "If you use the regular cuff on big arms it always reads too high."

Get well soon the both of you.
