Trying to discern what the thread size is for the screw on the Ruger 10/22.

Also, anybody pillar bed the 10/22? I have seen mention of it, just trying to figure how, do you cut a tube just slightly longer than the amount needed to clear the fore-end and tighten down against the receiver?

There's way more 10//2 info here than anywhere else:
www.rimfirecentral.com

If you have a 10/22 (or any rimfire) for that matter it would behoove you to join.

I've bedded a couple, but I used the factory style bolt and eustechon (sp?) and its been a while so I don't want to guess...

Just FYI, it took a bit of searching, but two seemiingly plausible responses on RC state that the screw is a 12-24. No to find one with a low profile head....they DON'T have em at McMaster Carr.

Well, I got in two (one extra just in case) of the Volquartsen takedown screws, and as stated in the reviews on Midway, it is shorter than the factory screw. The factory screw is 1" long, and the VQ screw is 13/16" long. A pretty substantial difference. It happened to engage with my receiver fine, at least five or six threads in, so good to go for me--I have a walnut deluxe model rifle, but beware, depending on your stock/receiver, this screw could easily be too short. I've got a few others ordered, this screw is also only a 1/8" allen head, I've seen a few others (which I ordered a few of) that are 5/32 allen head screws.

I'm still looking, but there has to be a source for these where the screws are more reasonable, trick is you need a shallow head cap screw....I think I posted before, but reported (not confirmed by me yet) size is 12-24, and also, IMO it is important that the screw is a partially threaded style.

Just some FYI here I suppose.
