PS when I did the e-forms 2 years ago or when ever they were up last all I got was a e-mail/PDF approval. you wont get a hard copy.
How easy of a process is the eForm compared to the Silencer Shop kiosk? Worth paying the extra $40 and waiting longer to use the kiosk? Or is it pretty straight forward?

Web site is pretty straight forward. You upload photo, scan or responsible party (s) form and trust documents if applicable. They then send an email with a cover letter to which you attach fingerprint cards through snail mail.
Only thing the $40 gets you is a program overlay that achieves the same uploads, digital fingerprints or printed versions from their system, and the cLEO letter.

I'm guessing you still have to get CLEO approval on these, do they contact them or how does that work? It's been several years since I've done a Form 1 and didn't use eForms. Thanks for the reply!

I did a couple eforms when it was running several years ago and I never got a paper copy - just an emailed pdf “e-stamp”. In fact one of the forms came back with a big “Draft Copy” (or somesuch wording) watermark overlayed across it. It took me several emails and a phone call to have them send me a clean copy.

I asked my Sheriff what he does with the paperwork and he said that they just stick them in a file and don't do anything with them.
Last time I used Eforms it was for Trust or Corporations only I think. You didn't submit any photos or fingerprints back then. How do you submit the fingerprints and photos on Eforms now?

The photo is uploaded and the fingerprints are sent snail mail with a cover letter. I am sending in my prints now.
It's a pretty easy process to be honest, took me about an hour to fill out including rechecking everything. We'll see how long it takes to get approved now.

"Special Instructions for Individuals, Trusts and Legal Entities
FILING AS AN INDIVIDUAL
The applicant must attach a digital photo in the Photo function on the Responsible Person tab.
The applicant must also provide his or her fingerprints on Form FD-258. The fingerprints will be submitted separately from the application. Upon submission of the application, the eForms system will email a cover sheet to the applicant. The cover sheet is to be printed as it will provide the control number of the transaction and the address where to send the fingerprint cards. The cover sheet and fingerprint cards MUST be mailed to the NFA Division within 10 business days of filing the application.
FILING AS A TRUST OR OTHER LEGAL ENTITY
In addition to providing the documentation of the existence of the trust or other legal entity, the applicant must electronically provide a photograph and completed ATF Form 5320.23, NFA Responsible Person Questionnaire (RPQ), for each responsible person (see definition 1.e on the instruction page) of the trust or legal entity. When filed via eForms, when in the Responsible Person function, the applicant will identify each responsible person and attach the photograph and a scanned, signed RPQ from that person. All photographs and RPQ forms must be attached to the application prior to submission.
The fingerprints for each responsible person must also be submitted. As for an individual applicant, the fingerprint cards must be sent to the NFA Division. The eForms system will email a cover sheet to the applicant listing the names of the responsible persons and is to be printed. The cover sheet and the fingerprint cards for all RP’s MUST be mailed in one batch to the NFA Division within 10 days of filing the application.

right now word is 1-3 weeks. I plan on doing a couple between Christmas and New Years (when I have some time off).
Let a friend use computer to file on 19 Nov - approval email 8 Dec. 17 days, including Thanksgiving!
Do you know if the same requirements for the paper form 1 for the photo are the same as the eform?
In other words does it have to have the same form as a passport photo or can I just take a selfie to upload?
I used a selfie. I stood in front of a white wall as square as I could. Cropped it to 2 inch by 2 inch on Microsoft office picture viewer and submitted it. Do your best to imitate what a passport photo would look like and you won't have a problem.
