I recently placed an order online through PoliteSocietyInc.com for a can (9/3/09). I have had no communication from them about the order other than the automated email receipt. I managed to get through to them by phone once, but got a nebulous response of "we'll look into it" when asking about the status of my order. Later they left me a message that the form 3 had not been approved yet. This was probaby 4 weeks ago. Now it is almost 6 weeks out from my initial order, and I still don't know what's going on with my order. I've called many times and got voicemail and left messages requesting some kind of update on the status of my order, but it is as if the company doesn't exist. I've also checked and my credit card has NOT been charged yet. Do I assume that the form 3 still has not gone through yet? They are supposed to ship the can to my SOT in MT but they haven't heard anything yet either. Is there a general delay in Form 3s now? I'm getting pretty frustrated by the complete lack of communication about this purchase. Anyone know?

John, Ill tell you this about Mark and Allen. Thats who runs PSI, two guys. it IS hard to get thru to them, I will say that. Have you tried emailing Mark? I live 30 mins from Mark, have his home number and I cant ever get ahold of him either even if I drive over to his house.... but do drop him a line in an email. Mark and Allen arent going anywhere trust me .... they just are extremely busy.

Your first mistake was not using Major Malfunction. He might be the biggest seller of class 3 items, period. And he is a one man shop. His wife helps out some but not much. His form 3's get approved to my dealer in about 2-3 weeks. They take time.

As far as answering the phone when you call ... its hard to answer the phone when you are already on the phone talking to someone. And if people dont leave a message when they dont get thru ... then whos fault is that ?
Mark was telling me the other day that he had a guy call and talked to him about cans for an hour or so. THEN the same guy ordered a can from someone else for 50 dollars cheaper and didnt even use Mark for the transfer. But its ok to call and gain Marks knowledge and use up his resources but go elsewhere to save 50 bucks.
KY I will say that being busy is no excuse. But sometimes things do slip thru cracks, look at the thread started about GAP ..... things happen and things will be made right in the end.

I have luck with both PS and MM, shit happens and sometimes it is hard to get ahold of some people. Personally, all the communications I have eith either PS or MM have been great. They always have answered my questions in a timely manner.

From what I heard right now the ATF is taking a longtime to process paperwork. The thing is to be prepared to wait. Sometimes if the don't have the product in stock they have to order the can and then do the paperwork. I do believe that is the correct. My last 2 cans went in that order. It took forever but the end result was I got the cans.

Well, I called PSI today. The guy that answered the phone didn't know anything about my order and said he'd have to check with "the other guy" and get back to me. I'm going to give them one more week and then try someone else.

I'm not here to bash "the Major", but I left 4 or 5 voice mail messages and multiple emails trying to get him to take my money - all with no response. Granted, he was exceedingly available while I was trying to decide what I wanted, and once we settled on an item and a price, when I called back to make the payment, he went AWOL as well. Seen similar tales on silencertalk so they are ALL busy. I understand that is his sideline job and he is very busy with his "normal" job, so that's fine. Again, I'm not here to bash him, I'm just saying there are other folks out there. Polite Society is one of them. They are good people and have been around a while. I would have no problem trusting them. I currently have been waiting on form 3 transfers from two different manufacturers for 4+ weeks to get to my dealer. I have personally spoken with both manufacturers (on separate ends of the country by the way) and they both tell me the same thing - "Things are just taking a little longer these days for some reason."

His father was in a declining medical state and he had to move him down to live near him. now if that doesnt warrant him some time off then I dont know what does. He took care of what he could while dealing with that. He also took that same amount of time off from his day job. So cut him some slack everytime I have called he answers or calls back within the hour.

I have 2 integral 22's that have been in the system since April, Uzi and M16 since May ATF is slow right now. If you start over again it's going to take a long time for your paperwork to go through. If you look at Polite Society's website they have a section that lists paperwork submission/approval times for customers to look at. They just added this to my knowledge because of slow transfer times a ATF. They probably have 100's of forms at the ATF and cannot produce who owns what quickly over the phone. I would just ride it through and relax. I have bought at least 4 cans from them and numerous accessories over the years and never had a problem with them and never called to check on my stuff. I would receive an email/phone call once the items shipped to my SOT with tracking information. Allen at Polite society is also having health issues and Mark is doing an extreme amount of work to cover.

Well, the other guy, or whomever he is, still hasn't gotten back to me. I have also since sent 2-3 emails to Allen, without any reply whatsoever. I've done this directly with my private email account, as well as through the feature on their website. I have asked what was going on with my order--no reply. I have asked them to send me a copy of my serial # on the can--twice. Still no reply. Their latest voicemail states that "they are not answering the phone today so that they can work on inventory"--whatever that means. I have done everything they have asked me to do, except not call them, and still no reply to my attempts to find out what is going on with my order. Has it been lost (the paperwork)? Did it actually make it to the BATFE? Is the holdup from the BATFE? Has the transfer to my SOT been approved, but they just haven't gotten it mailed off yet? I placed my order on 9/3/09, and I haven't heard one SQUEAK from these guys.
THIS IS AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD OF A PRODUCT THEY SELL, THIS IS JUST PISS-POOR. I DON'T CARE IF THEY HAVE MEDICAL OR OTHER EMERGENCIES. AT LEAST SEND A BLANKET EMAIL OUT TO ALL THE PENDING ORDERS LETTING THEM KNOW SOMETHING HAS COME UP AND THEY WILL BE DELAYED. IF THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE WORK LOAD, THEN TEMPORARILY DISABLE THE ORDERING FEATURE ON THEIR WEBSITE.
I'm sorry, I'm just really pissed with these guys for the lack of communication. I can handle a wait as long as they tell me. Don't just blow me off and ignore me. I would cancel my order but if the wait is due to the BATFE taking it's time, then it pushes me back even further, and I don't want to do that.

Their latest voicemail states that "they are not answering the phone today so that they can work on inventory"--whatever that means. I have done everything they have asked me to do, except not call them, and still no reply to my attempts to find out what is going on with my order. Has it been lost (the paperwork)? Did it actually make it to the BATFE? Is the holdup from the BATFE? Has the transfer to my SOT been approved, but they just haven't gotten it mailed off yet? I placed my order on 9/3/09, and I haven't heard one SQUEAK from these guys.
THIS IS AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD OF A PRODUCT THEY SELL, THIS IS JUST PISS-POOR. I DON'T CARE IF THEY HAVE MEDICAL OR OTHER EMERGENCIES. AT LEAST SEND A BLANKET EMAIL OUT TO ALL THE PENDING ORDERS LETTING THEM KNOW SOMETHING HAS COME UP AND THEY WILL BE DELAYED. IF THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE WORK LOAD, THEN TEMPORARILY DISABLE THE ORDERING FEATURE ON THEIR WEBSITE.
I'm sorry, I'm just really pissed with these guys for the lack of communication. I can handle a wait as long as they tell me. Don't just blow me off and ignore me. I would cancel my order but if the wait is due to the BATFE taking it's time, then it pushes me back even further, and I don't want to do that.
I will tell you this, that I will never order anything from PSI ever again. NEVER!!!

Wow, I dealt with Mark at PSI on my last purchase (762-SD) and subsequent transfer to my local FFL/SOT. He had the can in stock (absolutely necessary in my book) and spent more time than I could imagine on the phone talking to me about the can, other cans etc. In other words, he went out of his way to be helpful and informative. It made a big positive impression on me.
Additionally, earlier in the year I was scheduled for a LE sniper class and discovered a broken spring in my 762-SD can. I e-mailed Mark, and Mark had no spare springs on hand. Instead, he grabbed the springs from another 762-SD he had in stock, and sent those springs to me, so I would have them for the class. He could have said, "Sorry about your luck," but he didn't. Again, service above and beyond.
Recently I e-mailed Mark about .22 cans. Mark was very quick to respond with plenty of info. I imagine he is darn busy, but I've never found his service to be lacking.
I might be annoyed if I was in your shoes, but I have to stand up for Mark and PSI as being great to deal with in my experience.

Well, I know someone who purchased a new suppressor from an out-of-state dealer on 10/24/09. He was informed everything had gone through and the suppressor was shipping to his in-state FFL/SOT dealer on 11/7. That was quick, so it seems BATF was not a big hold up in that particular case.

Some dealers/manufacturers FAX in the Form 3 and get it back rather quickly. Others do not.

Well, I finally got an answer today. Mark sent me an email explaining everything. It seems an email from them got lost. Apparently they get a lot of bogus orders for cans through their website, so they always send a confirmatory email. It seems this got lost. As such, they will just drop the order and not send in a form 3. I just wish I could have spoken to someone and gotten this sorted out 3 months ago. After things got cleared up today, the form 3 has been sent. Mark sent me a copy of it.
He has made a good-faith attempt to rectify the situation to my satisfaction. I'm looking forward to my can, and not anticipating any more complications.

Sad thing is this seems like it happens too frequently for Mark and Allen over at PSI. I will never buy from them again. Hell it was my dealer that ordered from him, and if he ever needs to order any cans for me it will be with Bryon @ MM or I will find another dealer.

Ive tried ordering some mounts an pistons from them before. They told me they would call me back with availability of those products and never did. I called a week later and got the "oh ya we were just about to call you back" excuse.
Pitiful customer service. I wont be sending them my money for sure. I hope to get my Class 3 license in the next few months and start a small store, hopefully it expands over the years. I wont treat my customer like they do.
